I just read through the topic called "Too much Freespace 2"
And the thing about whoever was playing Commander Vincey is that her voice leaves a crater in the mind.
Any of your hated (or beloved) voice acts?
-
The WORST for me was: AWAKENINGS's (thx, Andro!) briefing's "chicken-women".
When I was transferred at the third mission, I was so happy! (Oh God, no more pitiful voice act! The command brief and the rest was so good...) And who briefed me? The same voice - even tho a different person!!!

Mackie, Derelict. Of course.
-
I liked Vincey.
-
Mackie, Derelict. Of course.
Original or remake?
I preferred the original Mackie, the one voiced by Agatheron himself. Not to rag on Ransom by any means; his character was outstanding (which is why he was my first and only pick for the GTI pilot in ST:R). But the original Mackie voice seemed to fit the jovial duct tape evangelist better. :)

Pretty much all of Lieutenant Ash's lines in the FS1 intro. The fear and panic in his voice was perfect.
-
Wait wait wait. Original Derelict had voice acting??? Where do I get it!?!?!?!?!?

I definitely have to agree with that. The way he was shouting literally gave me chills the first time I saw it...
As for individual lines, well, for some reason I always really liked that cutscene where the scientists test the shield system. If nothing else, the Back to the Future reference ("Power levels holding steady at 1.21 gigawatts") was brilliant.
And for pure comedic effect, with all due respect to Mackie--whom I thought was awesome--I have to hand it to Microsoft Sam for his awesome attempt to pronounce "Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch" in the first mission of Deus Ex Machina.

My version was voiced by a guy with a deep, mostly/kinda monotone voice. Other than that, I have no idea who it was

IMO, FS1's voice actors were considerably more convincing than the FS2 ones. Lt. Ash's lines are probably the most prominent example.

Well, FS2's lines sounded more like......you could tell they were acted if you know what I mean, like perfect screams etc
But FS1's actors sounded younger, but more natural, like where Lieutenant Ash's voice in his scream sounds like his voice almost breaks, mine would too (discounting the fact I'm still an adolescent) if I was screaming for all I was worth

When Lt. Ash died I felt really sad . . . made me want to kill all the Shivans in the game - that was just how good he was.
The voice actor normally did the TP Ani.4 didn't he? I'm quite sure he did.

...attempt to pronounce "Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch"...
Please tell me you copy / pasted that. :P

No idea :nervous: The version that came with Turey's a few years ago.
And indeed, FS1 voices are slightly more convincing.
-
I was always impressed by the amount of bitterness in those final words of narrator in FS1 outro.
"I am told that we can expect them [Shivans] again. But not in my lifetime. Such is liberation."

Only for the first few missions, unfortunately.

Bwuh. This odd cognitive difference again. I thought the FS1 voice actors were unconvincing, homogeneous, and flat by comparison.
-
I also like FS2's acting better, though there are some good voices in FS1.
-
Again, it depends on what you played first. The first one you play is always so good, any others cannot beat it.
-
If only that were true about Independence War... :P
-
In Derelict, when the derelict Lucifer comes in to that mission with the rebelling civvies, the ringleader says, "Oh, my god!" That line was so poorly delivered. I'm amazed they let that in. It had no emotion.

Got a few voice clips? I dont want to have to d\l a whole voice pack to pick a few.
-
The voice pack isn't that big. Only a few missions were voice acted.
