"Simply" put: What determines whether a missile follows a lag-pursuit or a lead-pursuit course to its target?
-
Many factors
- The firing ships position to the target
- Countermeasures
- EMPs
- The Missile, for example, the Hornet really needs to be somewhere close to your targets 'Six o'clock' position.
-
I don't think so, it seems to be more like
- Heat seekers are lag-pursuit
- Aspect seekers are lead-pursuit
-- Unless they are swarm, then they are lag-pursuit again.
Not sure about corkscrew or heat seeking corkscrews.
Any definate answers on this?

Ohh right, seems I misunderstood your question
Yeah you pretty much hit that nail right on the head there. For further clarification, the wiki has the types listed, you can find it here: http://www.hard-light.net/wiki/

What exactly did you mean for me to find in the wiki?

If you search the type of missile in the wiki (GTM-4 Hornet), the wiki lists wether it's lag pursuit etc etc
-
Ah, but I don't need a list of missiles.
My question was more based in the hope that there would be a way to hack together a heat-seeking lead-pursuit missile. It's annoying that making a good heat-seeking dogfight missile is practically impossible because of the lag-pursuit.

I was thinking about making this customizable for 3.6.11

That'd be great. It has my vote for being done.
