Hello,
I recently downloaded FS2 from GoG. It works fine, even on my Vista 64-bits. However, I find the font hard to read. It look like it's too fat, so to speak. Is there a way to change this? I really enjoy reading the background on the fighters, ships and weapons, but with this font, it's very straining on the eyes.
Thanks in advance!

What kind of a monitor are you using? And what resolution? Widescreen results in horizontal stretching, which would make any text seem "fat". But I've never found the FS font to be particularly bad.
There's no humane way to change the font. The only method I know is to create a specifically formatted image that contains the characters you want to use. And I think there was some weird, almost unknown tool involved as well.

I'm using a flatscreen, in 1024*768 resolution.

If that's not the native resolution of the monitor, it could also cause some blurryness because of the scaling. I recommend that you download the latest nightly build from the Nightly Builds board (link in my signature), use it and switch the resolution to the same as your monitor's native resolution from the Launcher. Might not do wonders, but it's still a start.

Thanks, I'll try it out.

Try this, Gawain: Open the Launcher, go to the "Video" tab, and toggle the "Fix font distortion problem" checkbox. That may help, as it did when I ran it on Windows last time.

I don't have that Checkbox on the launcher. I only have these options for the Video tab. (Pls see attached screenshot).

You are using the original FreeSpace 2 Launcher. Get the latest FSO Launcher, that can be downloaded here (http://fs2source.warpcore.org/exes/Launcher55d.rar), then hit the video tab in the FSO Launcher and down the bottom is your fix distortion problem you are looking for.
