Title: Anyone Else with Xfire VidCapture Prob?
Post by: JGZinv on February 19, 2009, 04:32:28 am
Went through and applied the edit to allow Xfire to see FS2 SCP as Decent Freespace,
but even with changing the capture key presets, nothing is happening or being recorded.

Anyone else having similar trouble or found a work around?

Guess this falls under "modding" :blah:

Well, it worked for me when I recorded the ToD gameplay vid a while back, but since this the whole feature was a hack to begin with, I donno if it works after XFire patched itself a few times.
First off, is XFire detecting the game? If it isn't there's the problem right there.

If you mean detecting FSO 3.6.10 as "Descent Freespace" after the "hack" then yeah it
works fine and will launch the game.

I even went and watched the video Xfire has of how to record things under the impression
I was doing something wrong. I simply don't get a recording display box or any notification
that recording has started... and there's nothing after the fact either.

Even reinstalled Xfire from scratch in case it was due to a corrupted update.
Reapplied the edit and same thing... nada.

I did get it to record a couple seconds of Starcraft, although no indication was given that it was recording.
Perhaps this has to do with the fact it's hooked into directdraw.

BTW I didn't find a way to fix this... but I went and used Debut Video Capture.
Had to break out a pretty powerful PC to use it, but got some nice captures using Mp4 compression.
