Title: FreeSpace: Insanity Rising
Post by: esarai on February 19, 2009, 11:51:45 pm
There is something really really wrong here.

Figure it out yet?

That being said, or rather, shown, I invite everyone who feels like it to post pictures, video, whatever you can conceive of, about something utterly insane in FS. Be it a bomb,  wacked out fighter, or something far more sinister, go ahead. Enjoy insanity, don't suffer from it.

What's with the quality? Those are quite some artefacts.
Nice speed on that Starstrider though.

I only recently began to realize that I hate integrated chipsets. In other words, my graphics card is full of fail.

I always enjoyed karajorma's "And the Sky Full of Hercs" thread (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,35794.0.html), prompted by a bug I introduced via the ship-create sexp. :)

karajorma's pictures are just plain funny - I never thought I'd see something like that.

Yeah but... retail nebulas? And it looks like you're running in 16-bit graphics mode, too.

Those ain't retail nebs... Just LightSpeed's ones rendered badly.

And wai wai wai are you not using 3.6.10 MVPs? :(

Taken from another thread:

8 Sathanas jugs, all self destructing in the same place at the same time. Enormous explosion. I had to do it with retail graphicks because I have a freaking integrated graphics card. Anyway, srs damage was done to the VBravos. Where beams, torpedoes, Shivan Super Lasers, and even ~+K failed, Snail has succeeded.

Another retail one:

Behold flying question marks!! ;)

You could just use ~+Shift+K to inflict 10% damage to it 10 times. Bam, dead Volition Bravos.

Did you have to alter the explosions of the Sathanes?

Don't remember. :P

I own a mission in which I manually put 100+ Boanerges, armed with Maxims and Helios'. The Ravana I put in was wasted instantly when the bombs hit. A Sathanas warps in 30s later and they [the bombers] blow themselves up because the game can still handle all the collisions. It's funny when an exploding bomber sets off a nearby Helios, and a chain reaction starts. Their formation isn't as good as the "sky full of hercs" bug effect, that just looks weird, except for that screenshot where the Ursa's are lined up.

I am a god. Or rather it just means I didn't bother to make a hud image for a Starstrider.

Hangin' owt in ur starfields, snipin ur shivanz:

Halon Railguns. Standard and Nuclear variants. Can't get the muzzle-flash to work on turrets. Just fine from a fighter, but not big guns. Any idea how to resolve that?

Never found out exactly, but I guess it was due to some incompability between host/client builds.

I'm pretty much lost on the point behind every single screenshot in this thread...

Well, table mismatches can do weird ****.  Kind of like how my friend was shooting trebuchets as if they were hornets.

Er wat?

Why are you firing tech ani's at a demon? Trying to kill them with informationz? And are 15th century weapons effective against capships?

I think i'd try a bit more subtle approach in that case :D

Edit:
Dunno ,could be somehow related to this:
Code: [Select]
$Player Weapon Precedence: (
"UD-8 Kayser"
"Prometheus R"
"Subach HL-7"
"Morning Star"
"Akheton SDG"
"Training"
"Helios"
"Cyclops"
"Piranha"
"Stiletto II"
"Trebuchet"
"Hornet"
"Harpoon"
"Tempest"
"Rockeye"
)

Done that with a 20 missile Helios strike, Demon died instantly.
