Title: Playing FRED2 missions on a direct IP connection game

I have a kewl little mission i made on FRED2 that i would like to play with a friend over a direct IP connection game. unfortunately I do not know how to do this, I know that FRED2 missions would need to be tweaked so that it can be played by more than 1 player.

So how do I play fred missions over a direct IP game?

And is there a windowed mode?

IP? I don't know what that is... :nervous: I know what LAN is - is it the same?
As for windowed mode, I don't think you can play 2 player in a split screen mode. You can play FS2_Open in a window, however. I think the setting is in the launcher under the features tab. Select misc. or dev. tool, it should be in there.

Direct IP is the one where you enter the ip adress of the player with who you want to play.

I guess I wasn't being clear enough, I am using hamachi to play the LAN games and when I mean windowed mode, I mean playing the game NOT in fullscreen :p

To play in a window you have to be using FS2_Open not the retail version. Simply go to the FS2_Open launcher and choose features->Dev tool->Play in a window.

As for playing an IP game, you can either use Hamachi (which basically tricks your PC into thinking that you and your friends have directly connected your PCs with each other) or you can swap your IP addresses and enter each of them into the box for them in multiplayer options.

thanks kara but i ALREADY KNOW how to play a multiplayer game :p

what i needed to know was how to play a fred2 mission made by myself online with a friend. Like, where do i put the mission file?

data\missions folder under either FS2 or whatever mod it's made for.

Same place as you'd put it for singleplayer in other words. :)
