My name is Kusanagi and this is my first visit to the HLP forums.
Thought I'd like to show ya something.
I dont know if anyone has tried putting beam weaponry on a player ship, but I wasn't able to do it...
Here's my way arund it :D :D

Modified targeting laser?
This really should be in FS Modding btw...

Nope...
Targeting laser always originates from the same spot on the ship, goes for infinity, and doesnt drain your energy.
These twin beams originate from actual hardpoints, have a 1000 meter range, and drain your reactor in about 4 seconds :D

I assume you have already noticed that they will disappear(turn invisible) when there is a lot of action going on. :drevil: :p

Hehe, i've maneged to put terslash on fighter. And, it doesn't drains energy:( . :confused: but i think u can detect drain of energy when u set guns on none:confused: . By the way;) u can chect the review for it on the current shivan swarm web page http://kissifrot2605.free.fr/ :D :D

yep. Just a pulse laser with a tail.
The problem with the little spaces is what I call "stippling."
And as far as the beam dissapearing, I've done some multiplayer testing with 4 other people attacking a Shivan Destroyer and no problems whatsoever. :D

what they mean by disapearing is that in some missions with heavy fire, there's too many shots to be displayed and FS2 jus't won't show them all.
hmm, Kusanagi... I assume that comes from an anime? :)
I know about two Kusanagi in animes ( Blue Seed and Ghost in the Shell), could it be one of them? :)

The "stippling" shouldn't be a problem as in StarSiege and EarthSiege the PBW was a pull of the trigger and the weapon appeared. I'm assuming the Laser will be using the same effect.
Anyhow, you do have all of the ships shown in the game converted into an FS2 model format, right? Since once pulled out of StarSiege they should be easy to convert. (I believe you can find a program to convert them to a .3ds file, from there a .cob, and then a .pof)
The only problem is since SS universe combat is all relativistic and at hyper-velocities, it's going to be pretty hard to pull off...

Yep...Mamoru Kusanagi from Blue Seed...I own the ENTIRE series...
Ace...where did you find out about Orbital Guard? I havent posted anything on the VWBB forums in ages... :p
As far as pulling models out...Dynamix used a file format known as DTS which was a 3DSM plugin, but since they never released the plugin, there is no way to pull models out of Starseige. Only 2 spacecraft were seen, both from cinematic scenes.
I've been debating whether to make the beam a single shot with alot of damage or the continuous beam...
I WOULD use a modified targeting laser if the thing would actually show up on the screen without the "Firing Artillary" and originating from the same damn spot on the ship everytime...
Actually, I intend to incorporate the targeting laser in for a couple of missions...
