Well, I'm testing my FS2 setup on the new comp, I start with the 5.5 launcher Nightly build 4990, and I get these:
'Failed to set graphic mode'
'Failed to set Anisotropic filter settings'
'Failed to set FAAA settings'
'Failed to set texture filter settings'
How do I make these stop? I copied every configuration-related file I could find from the old comp.

Debug Build. Log File. Could help, i guess.
EDIT: On further reflection, when do you get these errors? As soon as you open the Launcher, or when you want to start the game?
-
start the game.
-
Could you try a debug build then? Oh, and make sure that you've actually set these things in the Launcher's Graphics Tab.
-
that's the weird thing: I have.
-
Huh... the debug doesn't give me anything different.
Well, I'm going to sleep now.
-
And you got no Log out of it? That's strange....
-
1. Make sure you have the latest drivers installed for all your components, especially the graphics card.
2. Make sure you're trying to run FSO with administrator rights and not some highly limited account.
-
my problem is definetely number 2, i'll try it when i get home.

Strangely enough I've started getting the exact same error on my builds of the launcher from SVN. 5.5d works perfectly however. Given that due to a cockup the launcher in SVN is 5.5c I suspect that your problem is also due to the version you have.
Make certain you have the latest 5.5d version. Lobo's signature has a link in it IIRC.

It's the old launcher that I had on the old comp, which was 5.5d
