Ok, I didnt really know how to define the topic title, so ill just state what Im trying to do. I want to get an effect similar to the opening FS2 movie of The Battle of Deneb, when the 3 Vasudan fighters are flying towards it. A bunch of small, visible explosions, but unable to see any ships. Would there be any trick to doing this so that it looks like theres a lot of continuous explosions happining a long way away?

You could try an animated "nebula" by adding an explosion animation to the stars.tbl. I don't know if that will work though :nervous:

FRED2 Open adds the useful "explosion-effect" SEXP. Use that one to represent far explosions. :)

That works perfecty :D Thanks for pointing that out to me.

No problem. Ask whenever you have a question... :D

/me slaps himself for not having thought of that

I'm actually curious if the game would even allow you to have an EFF background image. I must investigate.
EDIT: It doesn't work. Nuts.

I've heard somewhere that ANI backgrounds do work :nervous: in a debate about pulsars.

Could you make a background animation as a texture on a large rectangle? (That might not work well with ship movement though)
