Title: ANI in-game?
Post by: dragonsniper on March 07, 2009, 10:21:48 pm
Is there the possibility that you could get an .ani file to play while in the middle of a mission? The .ani could show a lot of different things, but is it possible, and if so, how long would it take to plant into FRED or the FS engine?

I'm talking for a big planet explosion in the background or something like that.

Oh Okay. Hmmmm, what format are the in-game explosions? If it was possible to convert the .ani to that format it could work

Retail explosions are *.ani, Mvps are *.eff (with the frames being in *.dds mostly)

Is there a tutorial on this kind of stuff? It would be cool to know (for me anyhow) and I need to learn it for upcoming stuff.

Well, there are SEXPs to create an explosion effect at a certain location. If you can specify the ANI file there, that might work.
