Ok, I'm fed up with TS, it's crap, it's รน*^$^!!! Could someone make a 3ds2pof prog please?

I'm with you man. I NEED that program. The obvious choice would be Kazan, but he said he doesn't know enough about .3ds format (i think that's what he said!) to write the program... And I'm no coder otherwise I'd do it.

Anyway, I'm just like you I NEED it, not because I'm lazzy to tweak in TS, but because I have only TS1. Try to make subojects under TS1... It works, yes , you can import them... the next part is something else, anyway: meet "I'm truespace I mess up the scallings, and move the objects so you have to do all again, and so on. Well, have fun with me!!!".In one word, if someone doesn't do a 3ds2pof prog, or if I don't find Truespace 2 or above ( one which can a least aloow you to select multiple objects at the same time -no kiding, TS1 doesn't even allow that!-), Well, I won't be able to make any models moere complex than one object.

Anyway, what I lead to all this:
I got a frigate to turret ( one 2 parts turret), that comes along with 3 debris, and my TS completly messes around, it doesn't even allow me to change object's names... I'm not even surprised anymore, I wonder what TS1 allows...
Anyway, if someone had enough time to do that... Well, he would help me a great deal.

Tell me about it... I am also stuck with Truespace 1, which, no matter how hard I try, always leaves me with turrets that don't work (in game, the bounding box is massive, and not even centered about the bloody sub-onject!), and no idea how to make Debris and LOD's work... hey, if u know how to, tell me man (and if u want we can work that the other way round too).
No matter how much TS1 is a tool of torture tho, I need to keep on using it or my Mod's dead in the water. At least until a 3ds2pof converter comes out or I get a higher version of TS, preferably with TrueView plug-in.

As much as you can do under TS1, exepetd that you can't glue lights (d'oh!). But I'm sure something could be done for that in a tool like segeltuch, after all Voloition people didn't work on cob files, they used max...
About your bounding box pb, claw, maybe the axe of the suboject isn't centered on it?
Otherwis maybe this can be fixed in the ship.tbl file? I don't know, that's just suggestions, so for the ones who knows, don't flame please (telling the way to do should be more useful for everybody)!

Okay, now. I've programmed a viewer for 3DS files while I was in college (it was one of the five or so 3D engines that I programmed by that time). It was for DOS, programmed in C/C++ using the DJGPP IDE.
I lost the code, but I can see if I find the specs and write a simple loader, provided that someone sends me a POF class for C++ and I ever find the time to do it.
Thinking of it again, I can just send the specs to any programmer with enough time to do it...

Might as well send me a copy too, seeing as how ProgMesh also comes with complete source code...who knows if'n when I have some unexpected spare time?...
