This one is fast becoming a major political issue here.

At least that would burn off all the oil. :drevil:

But I think the worst of the Victorian bush fires are over.

I guess the one fortunate thing is that oil floats on the water. So the animals that don't hang around on the surface are a bit less harmed... But I suppose the oil blocks out sunlight for those underwater plants and the phytoplankton that the underwater animals eat. *sigh*

But ecological disaster doesn't compare to the loss of income from fewer tourists.

Bushfires were in Victoria; flooding was in Queensland.
