Title: Suggestions
Post by: Hellstryker on March 15, 2009, 08:03:53 pm
Let me start off by saying this; I think you guys should have a designated suggestion forum. It would probably make things alot easier.

Now, onto the real post. Despite the fact that none of this will ever get done, I feel obligated to say it anyway.

1) Ability to move background bitmaps around in FRED with the mouse. It would save a lot of time, and it would likely be easier to get the look you're going for.

2) Ability to add more nebula poofs. Currently the only option you have if you want to make new ones is to overwrite existing ones. Which is pretty lame. For instance, I wanted to make an icefield.

nice one... would make work really easy.

what? you mean like creating new nebula options to add from the FRED editor (custom ones made by yourself?)... if so, that can be done already... just edit the STARS.TBL and add it to your mod folder and woalla (remember to make FRED use your custom mod)

Can you do that with poofs, though? I may be wrong, but I only remember being able to add background nebulae.

Herra made a starfield.pof that accepts multiple textures. It's quite shiney, IMO. This can allow for not only having the starfield, but also another image (in his, it was a nebula image).

Now, if the same texture replacement that was used to change out nameplates was also appliable to the starfield.pof (either current single layer or double) then this could be of some benefit. But that could just be me.
