Title: BAYBEEEEZZ
Post by: iamzack on March 20, 2009, 06:32:51 am
More babies were born in the United States in 2007 than in any other year in American history, according to preliminary data reported Wednesday by the National Center for Health Statistics. (http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/19/health/19birth.html?ref=us)

For some reason, 40% of them being born to unwed mothers is relevant.

Why is this so special? Increase a population, keep the birthrate constant-ish, and you'll see a numerical increase in the number of births.

but still, we arw such n anomaly. normally, when you educate women and provide family planning, the birthrates goes down... no, wait abstinen ce only bull****. right. yeah. okay. okaaay.

than have ever been born than in any other year previously.  Can't leave that out.

Really, what's so flippin important about this?  Population increase + same birthrate = more births.

Population increase + same birthrate = more births.
To me that just sounds like there's more people but the same number of people having children. :wtf:

For everyone who says "Duh, there are more people, of course they're having more kids" doesn't that kinda ignore the fact that the old record was 1957?

Wouldn't that mean after 1957 that it went down?

You're not at all intrigued about the big gap in time?

1957 was the end of the baby boom.  That, and the birth control pill was introduced that year.  There was a big decline, but now that there are more people, still having less babies each, more babies were born that year.
