Hello! I just installed the latest nightly build and unfortunately it causes me to lose the computer-like voice in the tech room... what happened?
in the previous versions it all works again. did i do something bad to freespace? :)

You're probably using a build that doesn't support it. There's a checkbox somewhere called "Does this build have speech?" or something, in the launcher. Try that, see what it does.

Thanks for the fast reply! I checked that, and i saw that the voice is not scripted in this build...
i tried the nightly builds because every faq i read tells to install those, but it seems that sometimes they are not really feature-complete like the normal versions :(

Voice (Synthesis and Recognition) requires certain changes in order to work. As it stands only official builds can be counted upon to have those. Otherwise it depends on who built the .exe

Yeah
For the time being, get used to speed-reading :)

It's been one year since i touched freespace, so i'm being in a noobish period again! :)
i can't remember if the robotic voice is needed to hear in-game things too... if i don't have it turned on, is it game-breaking for me?
i still have to begin the main campaign...

The voice synthesis is completely optional. Chief has posted 3.6.10 RC1 on the main SCP forum which definitely should have voice anyway if you want a build that has it.

Thanks for the heads-up, Kara!
