Read the title.
What's the general opinion here? Zane suggested I use my array of Electro-Rock and put together an optional soundtrack for FS2, as an alternative to the current retail "Beats".
Yay or nay?
If you don't know what electro-rock sounds like when you play Freespace download the Exodus or the high noon remake from the missions and campaigns board :P
Not a Publicity Exercise

I like the current soundtrack fine ;)
-
That's why it would be an optional table. :P
-
This thread should be in FreeSpace Modding...
Replacing soundtracks? No. Adding soundtracks? Yes.
-
It's not like it's going to be a candidate for the MediaVPs soundtrack, I think the music (Exodus mission is the best example) is fitting.
And I play FreeSpace now with FastMod variables on all ships, lasers, and missiles unless I can't help it.
That's all it would be anyway, a soundtrack for anyone who wants different music.
Not very difficult to duplicate the TOS music table and put it in a backup folder for when you want the old stuff back.

If it floats your boat, go for it. :)

The idea is good but I think you should release it as a new soundtrack and nothing else. Releasing it as an alternate version of existing FS2 soundtracks is not a good move, IMO.
One more thing: Electro-Rock doesn't fit in Apocalypse...

That wasn't what Dilmah G intended on doing. :P

Good...

I think Blue Planet serves as a good benchmark if you're going to add music into the game. In addition, Dilmah, using Abandoned as menu music was quite a good idea.
-
Yeah, Aim was the best. :D
-
Aim was pretty good, but I prefer Razorback. Joshua II was pretty good as well. ;)

Okay First Post Edited.
Basically an option/additional soundtrack for the game, if it goes ahead I'll try and keep them faithful to their feeling in the retail soundtrack etc. For example I'll replace the fast-paced "Numbers" with the "Hard" beat featured in the High Noon remake.

Yeah, that's in a different sense however, well done nonetheless
I liked Abandoned because it gave the game a bit of a different feel, like humanity actually was doomed and you were fighting off/repressing memories of downed wingmen.
Come to think of it I don't think I'll replace the whole soundtrack with electro-rock, there are some new-age orchestral beats out there that fit the boot pretty well.
