Title: Adding in new ships
Post by: basnyy213 on March 30, 2009, 07:22:59 pm
What's involved in adding downloaded ships? I've downloaded a few user made ships separate from any campaign and have no idea how to add them into the game. What's the easiest way to do this?

You need to treat them as mods. :)

Check Karajorma's FreeSpace FAQTM, there's a detailled section about installing mods. You can find a link on my signature. ;)

I think I've got, should I just copy the tbl data into the current tbl file?

Thanks for the link Mobius.

I would make use of the newer SCP feature of modular tables, it's in the wiki.  You can find examples for a ship's .tbm all over the place probably.

If you're just at the experimenting stage there is nothing wrong with using tables instead of tbms. It makes things a lot simpler. You should learn to use them eventually of course since using a table to add a couple of minor mods is just wrong, but when you're just playing about learning stuff, editing the table is a reasonably easy way to get started.

Hey guys, I don't really know who else to go to with this. This will probably come as a surprise to you in more ways that one, but... I'm pregnant.

If your mom're just at the experimenting stage there is nothing wrong with using tables instead of tbms. It makes things a lot simpler. I'm wondering... which one is the true one?

You won't catch me this year. ;)
