What do you think of this?
Quite a different approach to footy - though I wonder how long the device inside would last...
-
Someone already made a topic about the gball (http://www.google.com.au/intl/en/gball/), but there's also another one for the U.S. residents, plus a couple of other pranks I've come across.

Read carefully. You might notice just how terrible most Wikipedians are in their command of English. :p
-
No pranks at school... ah well.
I'll see what I find on the web.
-
So I guess I'm the only one who's being redirected to YouTube at every link then.
-
Nope, but I just get the "This video is not available in your mom's country." message from youtube, so I don't know what it would be... it better be something more original than Rick Astley.
EDIT: Ahh... I spy with my little eye a new word filter... somebody's been reading too much xkcd ;)
-
nice one, goob.
-
Links all redirect to youtube much? (http://yekhmenuh)
Video is not available in my country thankfully.
-
**** you Goober! ;)
-
Sooo...Is it wrong to want this? http://www.thinkgeek.com/stuff/41/squeez-bacon.html (http://www.thinkgeek.com/stuff/41/squeez-bacon.html) (For obvious reasons, clicking that link won't take you where you expect to be taken.)

Interesting...forumwide URL redirecting overwrite. :P
-
Also this: April Fool's everybody, I'm a dude.

NO WAI!

Also this: April Fool's everybody, I'm a dude.
Turambar's not going to be happy about that is he...
-
Wow...
The world is ending. ^_^
-
Blasted word and link filters are hampering support. Some guy had to visit IRC to get coherent words from Herra. :p
-
Testing your script-fu...
Ah, the old tricks still work. you, your, you're
-
It has worked for the profanity filter and the smiley filter; it will definitely work for an April 1 filter.
Why is it called script-fu anyway?
-
That's it? A word filter? No semi virus projects or admin privleges for admiralxgmx? I was expecting the earth to reverse it's rotation ot something.
-
Because when you say "script skills", its not as awesome. Appending -fu to a noun makes the noun in question just that much better. (But wouldn't forum-fu be more appropriate in this case?)

Behold the awesomeness of regular expressions! Oh, and if you take a look at some of admiralxgmx posts, especially some of his thread-starters (Like the one in General FS/FreeSpace 2), things become much clearer..
EDIT: Best. Website. Ever. (http://cadiesingularity.blogspot.com/) (http://cadiesingularity.blogspot.com/)
-
(But wouldn't forum-fu be more appropriate in this case?)
I was refering to Goob's (or whoever implemented the current filter) script-fu in perl or python (or whatever they use). Maybe one day they will extend the script to include the usual tricks to circumvent the filter.
-
Yeah. After witnessing the whole "pregnancy" thing, I guess script-fu IS appropriate.

The link hijacks and mom thing are slightly funny. The REALLY funny part is watching guys flip out over how much they hate it.
-
Is this the best you can do HLP? Changing you to your mom?
-
Well, there is a second component this year. You're bound to see it sooner or later.
-

That cracks me up every single year, too, and it's just as good on Pirate Day. One would think that the complainers could figure out how to avoid accessing the boards for all of 24 hours. :p
-
I'd really like a "Return to Babel" day...members' posts are supposed to be in their home languages...
That'd be better, Pirate Days and April Fools stuff are centered on native English speakers' language and culture. Needless to say that, unlike Pirate Days and April Fools, "Return to Babel" is FS-ish... ;)
-

Hey guys, I don't really know who else to go to with this. This will probably come as a surprise to you in more ways than one, but... I'm pregnant.
-
That one...
-
Its April 1st...the day people are supposed to realize that life isn't all serious and your mom should take things on a lighter note.
Lighten up...we can do depressed for the rest of the year if your mom want :) (and by your mom I mean the person that is reading this message and not a maternal figure)
-
A Return to Babel day would be better. :p ;)
-
Not really, since mine would still be English. :P
-
Yeah, that'd be the funny part. Both the Pirate Day and the April Fools are centered on native English speakers...let's have more variety... :p
-
.
-
Does something brilliant happen if I intentionally type out your mom?
Aw, shucks.
-
Not really since no one would understand each other and that would cause the communication to cease in the forum.
That's pretty much what happens during PD and AF days... :nervous:
-
I was kinda hoping if someone typed out "you" it would turn into something else. Alas, no.
-
A Return to Babel day would be better. :p ;)
Not really since no one would understand each other and that would cause the communication to cease in the forum. You would have to use the online translators I use to translate it, but they are not perfect.
So do the randomizer thing. Don't treat every post that way, just, say 1 in 100. And you'd still be able to get the original text by quoting the babeled post.
-
.
-
...Unless they used the magical power of the "Quote" link to find out what he said.
-
That's why it'd be extremely funny.
-
mom
-
Actually, I thought about it harder. Since most of us on the board are native English speakers seemingly, it would excluded the non-native speakers on the board from being understood by the majority. Your mom want that, Mobius? Then your mom's posts would not be understood by most of us for a day at least.
I'm sorry, what's the difference? :P
-
That's why it'd be extremely funny.
Agreed. Wouldn't be that much worse than what we got this year, and it's definitely a cool idea.

I'm interested on the several hundred German and Polish members, actually. I don't really count because I'd be the only one posting in Italian.
Also, as you aware that the Pirate Day is extremely unfriendly to non native English speakers? Adding a Return to Babel day would be a metter of balance.
-
Would that do any good? It may still appear in that form even if your mom are quoting.
Edit: I just noticed that it changed into mom in this post, so I went to the quote link and my quote is also in that form and says mom. So maybe it wouldn't do any good.
*Shrugs* It worked on each and every post affected by the pregnancy message, so I don't see why it shouldn't work there.
Oh, and Mobius is right. There needs to be something to balance out the extreme annoyance that is TLP-day
-
Ban Mobius day? There are many who would find that quite relaxing. :p

Clicked a link, and got a surprise! :wtf:
Forgot about april 1st. :p ;)
-
I know the link won't work, and most people here dislike NASCAR (I totally do) but I thought this was funny
http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/sports_nascar/2009/04/did-obama-tell-chevy-dodge-to-ditch-its-nascar-funding-.html
Car and Driver pulled off the biggest April Fools' Day joke of the day on its Web site, caranddriver.com. It posted a story headlined "Obama Orders Chevrolet and Dodge Out Of NASCAR - Car News"
Granted, right below the headline, you saw the words "HAPPY APRIL FOOLS' DAY! THIS IS A JOKE. LIGHTEN UP, PEOPLE". Still, it became one of the hottest items on Twitter during the noon hour and has sparked a lot of conversation about the auto industry's involvement in NASCAR.
-
Also this: April Fool's everybody, I'm a dude.
Yeah, but are ya a hot dude, or just a dude?
-
In Singapore there was an 'Electronic Baby Pricing' where if you went to this shopping mall and you didn't have a baby with you, you'd be fined 200 bucks. Which was quite lol because the mall was built for teens and the like.
-
In France they said the Concorde would make another flight :) http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/7975877.stm
-
Newgrounds went Communist.
-
Dunno if anyone mentioned this, but Diablo 3 now has the Archivist! With radial dialogue trees! And the awesome spell quest bolt!
-
Also, as you aware that the Pirate Day is extremely unfriendly to non native English speakers? Adding a Return to Babel day would be a metter of balance.
No it's not, I'm not a native English speaker and yet find always TLAPD entertaining.
On a related note: Yes we know you're Italian... there's no need to remind us in every second-or-so post of that fact... because frankly my dear... we don't care.
-
I'm not a native English speaker and I have not experienced TLPD. ahurr... dunnaaaaahhh

CD Projekt announced their new game, The Witcher: Mysterious Secrets (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cUsPJWBF4u4), to be released between Tuesday and Friday 2010.
-
Just wait it out, Zack. You'll probably experience it this year.
Last year's Internation Talk Like A Landlubber Day was fantastic. I still have screenshots of the forum on my Cloud. (http://cid-78eece80a0658c61.skydrive.live.com/browse.aspx/Hard%20Light%20Productions/International%20Talk%20Like%20A%20Landlubber%20Day) :D
