Everything seems to be working ok except that the engine glow of the ships is blotted out by a King of Hearts Playing Card. Funnily enough, that does not occur in the target frame.
Any ideas what to do?
-
1. System specs.
2. FreeSpace specs:
- retail FS2 or FSO?
- if FSO, what build?
- if FSO, what Launcher?
- if FSO, what MediaVPs?
3. Run a debug build (has "d" or "debug" in the file name) until you get to the Main Hall. Quit. Find a file called fs2_open.log from your \freespace2\data\ folder and post it here.
I recall hearing this issue before, but can't remember the specifics.

Screenshots wouldn't be bad either.

Probably one of the squadron insignias (Suicide Kings) is somehow obscuring the engine glow

Yeah, helps us a great deal. What version mediavps are you using, if at all?

:nervous:
Umm.... Thanks. Your comments sent me looking. I had configured the wrong mod so there was graphics crossover.

Could you elaborate?
Giving a more detailed description about what was wrong and what fixed it would help greatly in case someone comes up in the future with a similar problem. In fact, if you make a help request thread, the least you can do is after figuring out the problem is to provide some sort of closure... ;)
-what exactly was the problem? Was the engine using Suicide Kings logo as thruster texture, or was it overlaying it with the thruster texture, or was the logo just in wrong place on the model?
-what mod configuration caused this problem to appear?
-what did you change to fix it?

Sorry for not having given sufficient context. I am running FS2 from a build I found on Demonoid on an iMac core 2 duo. I'm a complete noob to the whole FS2 environment and had configured the launcher incorrectly. (I had pointed to the wrong mod).
On an aside, The Mac OSX 3.x launcher isn't working for me at all. It simply crashes before anything happens.
Thanks for your patience and help :)

:wtf: Uh, a build is a version of the open source FSO game engine. And FS2 is a game. What did you download from Demonoid? A build or the entire game? If you downloaded the game illegally, I will be forced to cockslap you until you purchase a legitimate copy from Good Old Games. If you just downloaded a build, I'd recommend that you download the 3.6.10 RC1 from these forums (link in my signature).

For the record: which mod caused this problem?

FTR: Exactly. Got the GOG game and got the build from Demonoid. Added everything via the Installer and mucked it all up by not selecting 'mediavps' when I tried to start. I got the proper build and configured the launcher... no worries.
I feel foolish but the replies showed me the error of my ways. Thanks :D
