I've just found my (very old) copy of 'Conflict Freespace - Battle Pack'. I've installed it on my computer but I can't get it to work. I've looked for patches (unsucessfully) and have tried running in in compatibility mode (win 98). Here are my PC specs:
Windows Vista Home
Intel Dual Core Processor
3GB Ram
400GB HD
256MB Ati Radeon HD3450 Graphics card.
On-Board Sound
If anyone has any help i would be very thankfull.
PS
this site looks great :)

Get Freespace 2, you can run Freespace 1 via the FSPort. It's very cheap on GoodOldGames.
You can use Freespace Open to get upgraded graphics that'll actually tax that 3450.

Also, make sure to get the following MODs
Silent Threat: Reborn-- an awesome remake of the lousy expansion for FS1
Sync/Transcend/Windmills-- Three absolutely creepy and awesome campaigns by Ransom Arceihn
Derelict SCP-- an awesome (and story-driven) campaign

And Blue Planet, and (if you want a real challenge) The Procyon Insurgency.
