Title: Cut-Scenes?

I'm not getting any cut-scenes in between missions....


I've downloaded the ogg format scenes and tried them in both the /freespace2/ and /freespace2/data/movies/ folders, but with no sucess.

Am I missing something?

What build?
Direct3D or OpenGL?

The ogg cutscenes only work in OpenGL. If you have them separately (not in a .vp), place them to \freespace2\data\movies.

Usually, the only thing that is needed is to place the FS2Oggcutscenepack.vp in the main FS2 folder. You should also make sure that the "Disable Video Playback" flag is unchecked (in the Launcher, on the "Features" tab, in the "Troubleshoot" category)

In any case, could you select a debug build in the Launcher, run it, and then post the fs2open.log here (usually found in <FreeSpace Directory>\data\)?

I assume you are using FS2_Open Tankos. The ogg versions won't work retail versions of the game (including the one from Good Old Games).

In fairness I've managed to get myself a bit confused so I'm going to re-install everything. I used the 'thinking man' guide previously, but I'll try the 'installer' this time  :yes:

Well I've totally re-installed everything, and still no luck  :(

I'm running FS2 Open 3_6_10 RC2. I've downloaded the cutscenes (FS2OGGcutscenepack.vp) and I've placed it in the main game folder (c:\games\freespace2\)

Anymore help would be greatly appreciated.

So, could you select a debug build in the Launcher, and run that for us, then post the logfile here? You can find it in <FreeSpace Directory>\data\. You can use the [code][/code] tags for better readability. Oh, by the way, does the opening movie play?

Yes the opening movie does play.

I'll give the debug mode a go. How does debug mode work? Do I need to play for a certain ammount of time or something?

Well, first, open the Launcher. (If you haven't done so already, download the current Launcher 5.5d here (http://fs2source.warpcore.org/exes/Launcher55d.rar)). Then click on the "Browse" Button and select the build named "fs2_open_3_6_10_RC2_debug.exe". Run that and start a mission, preferably one with a cutscene. After the Mission has finished loading, quit the game, retrieve the log file, and post it here. Oh, and disregard any and all warnings it throws. We'll deal with them later.

Hmmm....The first thing I see and that you could try, is removing whatever resides in your "e:\" drive. It probably isn't needed. As for missions with cutscenes, Mission 9, "Into the Maelstrom", begins with the "Colossus" Cutscene, IIRC.

Yeah, I had a look at that and it allowed me to watch the opening video only.

It will only show the cutscenes that are already unlocked, meaning that unless you have seen them (or should have seen them) during the campaign, they won't show up there. I don't know wether or not that gets reset if you decide to restart a campaign (although I would bet that it is).
