one of my talisman desktops its a shame most of the themes are for 1280x1024 and not 1900x1200 my new monitor uses

It had many big improvements. Not having long repeating corridors with one room looking exactly the same as all the others for one thing.

Right-click Desktop -> Arrange desktop icons -> Uncheck "Show desktop icons"

There's your icon-free desktop on Windows. I personally have added an actually usable submenu grouping thing to my Start menu (visible in my image) which IMHO works far better than the desktop icons. In addition to this I can start the programs I use most often through the Windows -> Start interface, or command line. It is faster for me to press Win+R and type the name of the program than to minimize open windows, then find the icon on the desktop and double click it.

On the other hand, it's possible not to use Windows at all...

It is perfectly possible to hide desktop recycle bin icon on all Windows versions since 95.

Or you could make it use invisible icon and use invisible characters as their names...

Now that I think of it, making a bunch of link shortcuts, placing them on the desktop, and hiding them like this could be a major source of lulz. :drevil:

That was a pic taken by the Inferno dev team for eyecandy purposes. Unfortunately, the high-detail Lindos is not available. I thought it an extremely badass pic so I used it as my background. :cool:

IDK exactly what that means but it's like an acceleration video screen on top of your normal screen or something. like if you had Winamp open playing a video and it was in windowed mode and you used FRAPS to take a snapshot, it would only catch the video and nothing else. Someone else here who knows what they are talking about can explain it better.
