ok ive got an idea for a mod
(not going to sya what it is but it is)
although the mod itself will be technically non-cannon it relies on cannon events ..!
and now the help i need is (and yes i am looking also in the wiki) in any cannon timeline of freespace what ships (caps and fighter wings etc) are maked as lost (MIA) and there is no evidence that they are destroyed.
if you have any ideas i would be grateful for the following information :-
1:-name and type of ship / wing
2:- timeline , (what fs and which mission)
3:- any other relevant information you have ......
if you need more info please pm me
thanks :D

The biggest one to look at would be Kappa Wing from Mystery of the Trinity in FS2. They all disappeared but Kappa 3 reappeared.
By the way it's canon not cannon. The last one refers to a big gun while the former means the events considered genuine within a fictional universe.

I don't think the NTC Alexandria counts, right? That ship was destroyed by the Shivans, I think.
-
I don't think there are any ships listed as "missing" but there are plenty of ships who don't have a definite fate.
The only real fighters are Kappa wing.
The two Shivan ships Bosch and such were on, but I wouldn't really call those missing either.
-
ok thanks every one ...
of the ships that have a non determined fate any names , what class were they etc ....
im still hunting through the wiki and through the game
-
"every ship that wasn't blown up"
Plenty of ships are named once or seen in missions once.
it all kinda depends on when the mod is. If its post FS2 you can pick almost anyone you want. If it's during or before you're a little more constrained (but not really)
-
If FS1, there was a fleet that disappeared, IIRC.
-
The Shivan juggernaut Sathanas is now en route to the jump node leading to Terran-Vasudan space. Command ordered all units to rally in Gamma Draconis in three hours' time. Though we have accounted for most of our fleet, at least six warships have failed to reach the rendezvous point. We can wait for them no longer. The GTVA Security Council has authorized the immediate destruction of the Knossos subspace portal.
Possibility right there. :D

thanks loads , i guess these are unamed ships so i can add sort of what i want using that this is the sort of thing im looking for , now i just need to work out where all the ships went missing and ...............

Short answer: The Nebula. Feel free to go nuts with that.

I can't remember, was the NTC Alexandria actually said to be destroyed? Or did it just drop off the Grall for no apparent reason?
-
I think Snipes mentioned something about the crew piling onto the Grall for whatever reason...not sure...
-
"You're lucky we found you, Snipes. What happened out here?"
"The Shivans swarmed us near Gamma Drac, so we made an emergency jump. The rest is history."
"How many survivors?"
"17 of us made it to the transport. The shockwave banged us up pretty bad. Comm and life support were all we had to work with out here."
He doesn't say what the shockwave is from but it's a reasonable assumption that it was the loss of the Alexandria.
-
I'm not really sure they would leave the capital ship to jump into an Argo deep in Shivan territory just for kicks.
-
I'm assuming that the Alexandria was set upon by many Shivans, much like the Trinity. Although the Alexandria managed to hold out for a while, it became apparent that it would not survive the engagement, so everyone made a mad dash for the Grall, which was docked to the cruiser, but only 17 people, including Snipes, made it before the Alexandria's reactor went critical. My guess is that the Grall tried to depart straight away, but the explosion of the Alexandria jarred its engines, so it was probably only capable of making a Hermes-like jump to a random point in the nebula before the engines died.
Wasn't there a discussion quite some time ago concerning which class of cruiser the Alexandria was?

I remember a campaign about the GTVA ships that didn't make it to Gamma Draconis in time when the first Sathanas appeared... I don't remember the campaign's name, though. Was it Desperation?
-
Hmm, I think I posted an idea about a nebula campaign, and someone linked to that. However, that's gonna be a few pages back on the missions and campagins forum, under "Idea Feedback."
EDIT: found it
Into the Depths of Hell. (http://www.geocities.com/noiseball2000/itdoh.html)

Ahh, ItDoH. That's an excellent mod. It's a pity that Chapter 5 doesn't work.
-
so it was probably only capable of making a Hermes-like jump to a random point in the nebula before the engines died.
Snipes mentioned that the navigation buoys were dropped by the Alexandria, so I don't think the Grall managed to make a jump anywhere.
-
In that case, it must have broken off the Alexandria and taken massive damage to its subsystems in the process, much like what happened to the GTT Discovery, only that it's an Argo.
I believe the only reasons why the Grall took only 20% hull damage prior to the Skulls finding him is because it wasn't the only target for the Shivans, and that the Shivans were using all the wrong weapons.
-
Do they ever use the right ones?
-
They did in Argonautica and Return to Babel. Basilisks + Hornets = Dead Argo.
However, they used Nahemas with Piranhas in As Lightning Fall. With that kind of pea-shooter, the Argo should survive.

IIRC Desperation was set after the second time the GTVA retreated, not the first.
-
ive got to say this ... thanks your all a great mine of information this is really helping me

Snipes mentioned that the navigation buoys were dropped by the Alexandria, so I don't think the Grall managed to make a jump anywhere.
How about "What was the point in jumping if there were many useful nav buoys in the area?"
Jumping is a risk - you know what's around you when you jump out, but you don't know anything when you jump in. With the nav buoys there, the Grall simply had to wait for an SOC wing.

Read the post on top of this page, Mobius.
