Well, I just figured out how to use the flame filter in GIMP, and found an interesting use for it. Ship designs.
Example, from this:

To this early model:

Interesting... Would make some nice Shivans that way :D
-
This is correct. I have been inspired to do just that!
-
Oh nice!
-
Wow. I want that model when it comes out!
-
Very interesting procedure - never thought of using flames in GIMP that way!

Update: made stuff more pointy, gave it the triangular head that most Shivan ships have, and did other stuff that I don't feel like typing about.

On that bottom picture the "nose" or whatever the hell you want to call it looks.... wrong. I can't quite put my finger on it.
-
It probably needs to extend out forwards more.

This is like a Shivan Ulysses, especially the front-on view. Great work so far, as long as you can get it out of Sketch alright.

Well, as always I got modelers block. So this is now open for improvement. I think I can get it out of sketchup and into blender (and from there into whatever is needed), but I havent done it before so... yeah.
