Im in the process of creating an Ancients Datafiles mod, which will be based on the Shivan Datafiles pack, except for Ancients.
Im extracting all of the Ancient ships from where I can find them... and adding other little bits here and there. Anyone willing to help with it or offer comments please do! All help will be appreciated.

Some time ago I made semi-complete ancient mod.
I will soon check out what I included into it and tell you.
Mod itself is unreleased ,but everything in it can be found somewhere.

awesome... that would be great. I'm editing the AF Kato right now... along with the Ancient Debris. (Im starting with some easier stuff, then moving up...)

Well, who knows? idk... Im just using all of the previous mods that have to do with the Ancients, along with some additional tech room info and maybe a homemade Ancientified warp. chances of that are slim.
(my idea behind that is... surely subspace had a different color back in those days? I mean it was a long time ago...)

Or you could wait till the first ASW release for more Ancient ships, mods and etc. Like the HTL Kato, some of the INF Ancient ships, etc.
Or better yet, join ASW :D

hm there's an idea... but im already getting the ancient ships from Inferno releases... so yeah
edit: Oh wait... you're the main guy for the Ancient Shivan War project... :lol: sorry. Sure, I'll join... what can I do? I dont do modeling or music... i might do fredding though if given assets to work with.

By INF Ancient ships, he means the newer, non-INFR1 ones.
Come on, join us. It'll be fun.

Or if you want to continue this by yourself, the only Ancients craft I know of are from INFR1, and if I recall correctly there was a fighter or two in Nukemod. That's about it.

I have not that much of Ancient stuff as I though.
Inf R1 ships and weapons ,old Ancient weapons pack ,Nukemod ship and weapons and one ancient cannon from I think GTGS Enforcer (available here: http://www.freespacemods.net/download.php?view.383).
I used a BP table for Vishnan heavy fighter and made AF Siren (untabled in INF R1).
And I have INF R1 path ,it upgrades some ancient weapons.
You propably have all of it ,maybe except the enforcer.
You will most likely have better name for Siren.

yeah, I already had the Enforcer... i think i have everything on that list. I'm just gonna have to extract and compile some, you know?

To clarify, me and Woomeister agreed on giving the exclusive INF Ancient ships (most of which weren't featured in INFR1) to the ASW team. :)

It means you'll have to wait till they're released, or else be veeery nice to the INF team.

ok, thats cool just it would be really nice to have a ancients database up and running ......
so that ppl wishing to create something within this period of the fs universe have a full pallete as such to work with ....

well apparently there's a bunch of people up here working on mods and campaigns set during the Ancients time or that have something to do with the Ancients... so I'm just doing a basic compilation, you could say.

No, seriously, what's wrong with you? The INF team has kindly shown support for the ASW team/mod, however it doesn't mean that the ships have to be released to public. But why do you go on and try to bash/flame Mobius because of that?
And ASW can work as the datafiles as well, as it'll have nearly all the existing Ancient ships ( and more; not all in the first release though ), a lot of weapons, and no original terranish/vasudanish stuff in it.

Maybe he thought that releasing the models to the public might have been the more appropriate solution. Not that I agree with him...

well im realizing this is harder than i thought... im having to find each model, table entry, weapon and texture individually and install it individually instead of together... ugh but im getting there...
Whatever happened to the SpaceHunk model that I've seen in FRED but seems to have disappeared? It looked like a long pointed piece of Shivan debris... i need to find it so that I can convert it to Ancient so that I have two pieces of debris...

It was previously done ,the hunk you're looking for is the spacehunk.pof ,and for ancient hunk you should search Volition watch. I don't know if link there is still working so I'm attaching it. :)

already got that... apparently i thought it was pointed, but its just a reskin of the SpaceHunk model... can someone make a different one?

Here you go ,they use inferno textures ,I'm assuming you have them.

Look into mediavps ,Artemis D.H. have even normal maps . :)
What I really like is reskining capships ,fighters (and UV maped capships) are things that require more work and because of it I rarely reskinin them. Tile mapped capships give more possibilities and if textures are only recolored there's a chance that there will be mathing normal map. You can see HTL Raynors i made in my thread in 158th Banshee squadron where I asked for premission to upload their exposition release.
Back on topic what left to do with datafiles?
