(Yes, that's dutch, I will explain)
Today, 1 and a half hours ago, a car managed to hit the Royal Convoy, which was there because there where celebrations going on. 14 people are wounded, status unknown. As it is Queen's Day in holland (in fact, the 100th one held on this date), where everyone is celebrating, everyone is now very very depressed.
I will update as things get more clear.
-
it was a assassination attempt or something like that?
-
I don't know. Assasination attempts usually involve snipers or bombs. Neither of those happened, the car did not explode or anything... It just drove into the people celebrating, and may indeed be aiming for the queen.
The count has been updated, 2 people dead, 12 wounded.

The guy who did it died, BBC says it was an assasination attempt. Frankly I don't really see how, he was using a car and managed to MISS a slow moving BUS.

Not every assassination attempt is carried out by some expert killer with C4 or a 50 cal sniper rifle from the next town over, the fellow could have been quite daft. Hell taken together throughout history probably more assassination attempts have been made by deranged amateurs then specialists.
-
Yep, if they make a movie on this assassination attempt, I doubt they'll give the role to Bruce Willis :)
-
The guy could have been just a drunken moron ya know....
The royal family was riding on the top of a double-decker bus .ramming it with a car would not be fatal for them in the least.

Yeah but how could he miss hitting the bus?
-
He's insane. Maybe the voice of his dead dog told him to steer to the left or something.

Well he was trying to attack a bus with a compact car, so its reasonable to say he wasn't thinking properly. Even if he succeeded the only one he was going to reliably kill is himself. Not to mention folks have a hard enough time driving properly, what makes you think driving with intent to harm is any different?
Without seeing some sorta after action report I can list a few reasons why he might have failed.
- His low ground clearance compact car has poor visibility, among the throngs of people he might not have been able to see the bus
- He was driving in a reckless manner and lost control of his vehicle
- Impacting pedestrians busted up his windshield so he had no visibility or lost control of his car
- Some alert security sniper put a round in his noggin
- In his daft perceptions a giant concrete monument looks similar to a bus.
