Anyone played any good ones lately? I was just digging through the game pile for a break from studying when I pulled out Shogo: Mobile Armour Division (Mechs, but agile ones, combined with on-foot combat - anime-inspired). With forced-FSAA, I must say, it looked kinda cool. I played it at 640*480, of course, so my P3-500 wouldn't cark it. :D

I was rather impressed, even if just for the visual quality. For such an old game (uhhh, 2-3 years, IIRC), I liked it, and it was an FPS (I'm not much of a run-around-and-shoot-people person; I'm more of a fly-around-and-shoot-people person...), so it surprised me. So, anyone else got cool-looking screenies or glowing reviews of FPSs? Me is interested. :D
-
I don't know if everyone's played it or not, but I quite liked Oni, though I've only played the demo as yet. Nice change on the standard run around and shoot people (It became run around and hit people when your only weapon ran out, but for once the hitting motion actually did something!!!)
-
No screenshots but only the greatest amount of praise for Deus ex and halflife (I know, I know, old news).
Half-life... Just wow :jaw:
-
Oni... Oni! I quite liked the idea of that game. I should pick it up for PC some time. Is it in the bargain basket yet? ;)
PS. is it a 3rd-person perspective? That's what I seem to remember...
-
Yeah it's 3rd person. I only played it for about 15 mins but I remember the controls being a little unfriendly and movement tricky.

Half-Life? Pass. Deus Ex now... That's a work of art. Warren Spectre knows how to make a game. Also, System Shock 2, Thief and Thief 2 (all of which, along with Deus Ex, borrow heavily from each other). Thief and System Shock innovate on the FPS genre in different areas, and Deus Ex takes the best of both of them and combines them for, overall, an incredibly enjoyable experience.
I'm glad I'm not the only person who liked Shogo too. I loved that game, even for all its flaws and quirks. Its absolutely horrible, really, but the main character's wise cracks and the (pointlessly) transformable mecha made the game sickeningly fun.
I have to say though, that System Shock 2 is THE definitive FPS experience. For all the joy of sneaking in Thief, the cybercraziness of Deus Ex, the mecha of Shogo, NO other FPS has drawn me in, scared me, and made me want to keep playing it like Shock2.
-
No One Lives Forever. Definately that. The best FPS IMHO. No screenies, but the review link from gamespot is here. The humor from that game is.... well about as good as the recent Seriously... thread. here's the link: http://gamespot.com/gamespot/filters/products/0,11114,913839,00.html

Funny this topic comes up now, a couple of days ago I re-installed Half-Life, Opposing Forces and Blue-Shift. I've finished HL and OF and am about 3/4 through Blue-Shift. All I've got to say is wow. Playing the entire thing after a break is like a wholesome slice of gaming pie - every minute is a pleasure, every shotgun blast a note of rapture! Needless to say HL is still very high on my top games list.
A friend of mine also purchased Medal of Honor yesterday and we played the first level at his house.... I'm very impressed! The look and feel of the game is incredible and I defintely need to buy it when I've got the money together.
-
Star Trek Voyager Elite force...I just love to shoot those borg fellas. ;7
-
Yes Shogo was great... I liked it wery much (and I still do)
Oni was awesome, so were Half-Life and Deus Ex.
The plot in Deus Ex was exellent, I was so hooked up with the game that I just couldn't stop playing untill I had finished it (ok I DID sleep and go to school, but anyway).

My sentiments exactly. It really isn't that good of a game (oh, the level design! Ick!), but I enjoyed it a lot. :D
:sigh: So many games, so little time... ;)

Yeah, that was OK. Too short though. And they didn't use all the capabilites of the Q3 engine (at least as it seems to me)

Ok, that doesnt count..
I dont even consider that a game its so terrible :p

half life is without doubt the best first prson shooter ever - it was just so much fun - it was the first FPS i ever bought and i been looking for something as good for ages now but never do they succeed although medal of honor is good too but there are bits that are just damed imposiisble and the inability to shift down from normal to easy in these bits annoys me alot
half life hard its difficult bits but even if you got killed you normally knew what the solution was it was just implemtning it that was tricky - nah half life was the best
-
Boya!!!!
thief stays my favourite one, but Renegade now comes very close. Half life kicked me,n but when I played it it was already quite old so the effect was not what it should have been if I had played it when it was out.
Oni is cool (tho not a FPS), but too darn hard, i was completly stuck at mission 04 or 05 dunno, it was impossible to beat the game, not enough checkpoints ( and people ask me why I don't like consoles? because of that ****ty save system, for exemple).
The most fun one? Duke3D :D *runs*
"screaming from the distance": I didn't like Deus Ex, it looked horrible and I didn't "feel" the character *runs out of sight*

hmm..
DoomGL. A classic with a pretty cool facelift. Think of doom with 3D acceleration. nuff said.. www.doomworld.com/doomgl/doomgl.html
RtCW. Killer graphics with a challenging single play and fun multiplayer. A little to easy in MP when you use the Sten ;)
DoD. I just got into this one recently. I find it extremely realistic, challenging and plain fun.
C&C: Renegade. Gotta keep playing this one. Excellent multiplayer with super vechicle action. Single-player is awesome too.
I used to play Counter-Strike like crazy back when people didn't cheat and when they also didn't make the game look like the only important thing keeping them alive.
Haven't played TFC in a while either. guess it got old. That and the lack of NeoTF servers.
-
Shogo is a great game :)
I think it's lithtech based, about Half Life vintage.
Fun stuff :)
-
These are the FPS games I play frequently these days:
Medal of Honor: Allied Assault - nice graphics/sound, immersive atmosphere, both single and multi modes are well-designed
Tribes 2 - one of the best games around for multiplayer
Deus Ex - the best single-player experience of any game out there in my opinion, multiplayer is fun as well
Thief II: The Metal Age - great strategic gameplay and challenging difficulty
Unreal Tournament - fast-and-furious multiplayer mode keeps making me come back, this is definitely the game I am best at
Descent 3 - as with MOH, solid singleplayer and multiplayer, hard in both :D
Doom 2 - great classic game with fun singleplayer
The plot in Deus Ex was exellent, I was so hooked up with the game that I just couldn't stop playing untill I had finished it (ok I DID sleep and go to school, but anyway).
I got this game with my computer; when I first tried it out I played it for nine hours straight without any breaks. :D I have played through the game 12 times now and still find it fun. ;)
BTW I actually didn't even know that you could save Paul Denton and Jock until the 7th or 8th time I played through the campaign. :D

Shogo wasn't translated. That's an American game. It was written that way :D
To whomever asked, Shogo was indeed a Lithtech game, the first I believe.

Funny, the copy I got was in Japanese, I managed to find some Japanese guy in Vancouver who had an english copy and traded it with him...
I just assumed...

Ya tried the mod Rocket Arena for that? I play that frequently... and I rather enjoy it. But really there are a lot of 'good' players there... but thats the main reason I play that mod, is because most of them are at my level of skill(hate to brag, but hey...)
RA is good for that because you start out with every weapon(except redeemer, and if the server disallows others). And the maps are 'arena' type, so its a pretty quick 'get in the action and fight' thing. Its perfect for perfecting skills... the xperts aren't very nice to newbies though. If you haven't played RA online, I recommend you do, I still play it a lot.
-
Cool; actually I haven't gotten a chance to try the RA mod yet, but I do want to try that sometime. l usually play with the standard settings online, but I also like U4E and TacOps.
I used to really suck at UT online about six months ago because of my crappy 56k, which gave me pings of 7500ms or so on average, so I never really saw the enemy guys coming up until after I was dead. I played offline against bots a lot, but they were fairly predictable and poor at long-range fighting. (although they are extremely accurate with aiming) Now that I have cable, I play it almost every other night and was able to start smashing everybody as a newbie because of all the offline experience. :D
By the way, what is that CSHP thing? A clan? Almost half of the servers on UT have that CSHP label on them...
I usually play on the [CSHP]Netcarrier (domination) or [CSHP]Lanarchy (CTF) servers; you can usually find me there at around 4 in the morning (EST). :D

Oni rocks. Admittedly, it doesn't live up to its own potential, but its still lots of fun to play. Great way to release tension.
-
Lately, the only FPS games I've really been playing are Tribes 2 and Alien versus Predator 2.
Tribes 2: AAAH BOMBER AAHAHAHAHAH!!! *eeeoow* *bang* *3 or 4 stupid death messages* Shazbot!
Aliens versus Predator 2: *Cut to picture of Marine's head pinned to the wall with a spear*
Tee-hee.

It lacked Mplayer, that would have rocked.
did you manage to beat that damn mission where you begin in the hall of a building with some other cops, and you're ambushed right at the begining, then you have to clean up ALL the stairs to unlock all the computers to open the damn door at the top, then go into a huge room with plateforms, full of guards , and then... her, didn't go any farther, coz you had to do all this W/O A SINGLE DAMN WAYPOINT????
-
I think Max Payne is better at letting your agression out that Oni is, because it looks so damn cool that you forget what you were pissed about...
Doing a sideways dive with two Ingrams blazing just looks friggin cool....
-
lol, oni is much older, you can't compare :)
-
I never had any trouble with any of the demo levels of Oni. The one you mentioned, Venom, was absolutely AWESOME.
Max Payne is not good for stress relief for me. Its gorgeous, but its got too much atmosphere. How silly is that? Its too good at setting the mood. I like Oni for the same reasons I like the side scrolling beat-em-up games that inspired it: MINDLESS FIGHTING.
Venom, the lack of multiplay in Oni doesn't bother me at all. I don't play multiplayer games except on my consoles or on a local LAN. I don't like to play games with strangers.
-
Nah, you don't get what I mean: the game would have made a great fight game, imagine mplayer on the same screen, like... her... street fighter or dead or alive, but in 3rst preson view :)
don't tell me the game wasn't mùade for it! the close combat and the combos were so well done, the gameplay was great ( tho the fact you couldn't redefine the keys w/o tweaking the ini file sucked severly)

servers that have [CSHP] in their name mean that they are running CSHP(Client-Side Hack Protection), which prevents cheating to an extent, though there is an aimbot that can get past that.

LOL I usually am still awake at that time; my gaming hours tend to be between 10PM to 6AM. :D I can be found either as CP5670 or SSC-CP5670.
BTW For "venting agression," I would say that this game (UT) is the way to go due to its insanely fast gameplay pace. ;):D

I've been wondering when someone'll mention that one!!! Wahoo!!!! :p
One of the most impressive things about Serious Sam is the graphics engine. It handles humongous hordes of twitching, jerking and generally salivating monsters alongside shiny, clanking bio-mechs - all on-screen at the same time, and without anything resembling slowdown! Plus it uses OpenGL, which is always good. :D
The other thing is how it deals with up-close textures. Normally the textures'll get all smeary and blurred - not so in the Serious Engine. It adds a sort of grainy effect to the texture when you're up close that makes it look absolutely incredible - I'll try and get a screenie for you all. :)

I know exactly what you're talking about. It's really cool.
-
Let's see-
Thief-Nothing like sneaking and sulking, plus listening in on conversations about the Bear Pits, etc. "They don't make bears like they used to..."
System Shock 2-Alas I've only played the demo, I plan to get the full version soon. Very freaky, better then the original.
Deus Ex-One of the best done games I've ever played, perfect blend of all of the elements and has a great feel. Plus being able to take multiple approaches to a problem.
Red Faction-The singleplayer game didn't live up to half of what it could have been, however it's engine is very powerful yet definately underused by Volition. I like this because of the potential it has, if used right.
Wolfenstein-Zombie bashing might not be my thing, but levels like the V2 rocket one hit a soft spot. The right blend of Indiana Jones, and the original Wolfenstein. (I'm talking about the "Nazis, I hate those guys" Dr. Jones, not the cheesy Temple of Doom one)
Tribes 2-Best multiplayer _ever_
STV: Elite Force-Fun, mindless shootfest. I need to get my hands on the expansion set for the Captain Proton(tm) missions ;)
Max Payne-I have to agree with the fact that it's a little too "moody" and full of attitude, bullet time is sweet but sometimes the game is a little too "involved" for my taste :p
HalfLife-I've been spoiled from playing FPS games like the original System Shock and honestly don't agree with how "revolutionary" it was. Elements that led to HL were there all along, it was only a matter of time :p Now the mods done for HL *are* impressive like CounterStrike.

Completely agree with that. :) After playing stuff like SS2 and Unreal, it didn't seem very impressive. The user-made mods for it make up for that though.

Yeah, that's a very neat effect; I think they call it "detail mapping." The only games where I have seen it done are Unreal, UT and Deus Ex (other Unreal-based games probably have it as well); great to hear that another series supports this as well.
Damn! :jaw:

A bit of advice: DON'T. I'm sure you've got better to do with your $9, or whatever the expansion costs, than to get one Captain Proton level and a lot of useless crap.
Aside from some new MP modes, Elite Force Expansion pack is no good.

That's all I thought Max Payne was good for, actually.. The story's crap, the script is awful, but the aciton is great. :)

If you don't do anything else this year for mercy's sake get a bunch of mates around and play the 'rocket crowbar' mod for halflife. It's the funniest thing I've ever seen. Shotguns that fire exploding scientists, black hole grenades... The list goes on.

I watched my brother play once, and it had him jumpin in his seat, beat the first AvP, man. Predator mode is OK, Alien is my fav, but the marines? when you get to the part with facehuggers, you cant see them, you here them first, you run around scared, and then its on your comp screen sucking at your face. and the game is dark. Real dark. but this summer im gonna play ss2 and compare the two

You haven't tried U4E for Unreal Tournament yet? :D They have just about every weapon idea I can think of, some of which are really wacky. :D
-
Come on people!! Scientist proximity mines!!
You plant one he just stands there until someone comes within proximity distance then he politely says 'hello' and BOOM!! you're a blackened stain on the closest wall.
-
Lets see what we have in U4E... :D
Quantum Singularity Generator - basically creates a small blackhole; some cool effects can be made with this as it sucks in all nearby objects; also, if you create multiple singularities and enter one, you can come out of another
Fleshbomb Rifle - when a person is hit by this, they basically run around for a while with their sight turning red and then die in a big high-radius explosion a bit later; very fun to use
Blow-up doll - everyone can guess what this does; just runs around saying "mama" until someone gets near it, at which point it explodes in a mini-nuke
Airblast - basically an aircraft propellor, you can blow stuff away, suck people in, and fly around
Shrinker - can shrink or enlarge target ; if enlarged, target gets really fat and then explodes; if shrunk, target becomes really small and gets 2% of its original health (can be easily run over)
Spider bomb - crawls around map and searches for targets; when target is found, it just moves near it and blows up
There is all kinds of other stuff in there as well; these are the weapons I can remember at the moment.

You got that right... AvP (and AvP2) is so far the only game that REALLY scared the crap out of me. Damn, I still remember how my neck was hurting after a playing session with marine, because I have been so scared :p
Thief and Thief2 were exiting, not so scary as AvP. It was awesome to wait in a corner and listen how guards walk by and then knock them out with blackjack. Man it was a great feeling :D

OH, OH, I know a good one:
Heavy Gear II!
This is one of the best shooters out there. What you do is control (usually) fast 14-foot humanoid power machines, I mean, you can even punch and use swords!
Plus, the graphics are still astounding!
EDIT: It was made in 1998 ;)

Stolen from Duke3d.
Yeah, it has a few weapons from other games; the BFG also makes a comeback as well. :D
You got that right... AvP (and AvP2) is so far the only game that REALLY scared the crap out of me. Damn, I still remember how my neck was hurting after a playing session with marine, because I have been so scared :p
They were certainly atmospheric but I didn't really find them scary... (come to think of it, I can't think of any game that was really scary, so to speak)
Thief and Thief2 were exiting, not so scary as AvP. It was awesome to wait in a corner and listen how guards walk by and then knock them out with blackjack. Man it was a great feeling :D
LOL, doing that kind of thing was really great, especially when they say things like "nobody is getting past us." :D
-
AvP? Atmosphere? No. That has cheap slasher movie thrills. "Oh an alien! Oh a predator! Oh, i fear!" BAH, I say.
System Shock 2 makes you FEAR. It makes your belly twist and seriously reconsider going through that door. "we are we are we... are... is there another? your song is not ours.... silence the discord...." Cyber ninjas, mutated people, invisible spiders, crazy security turrets, security cameras, psychic monkeys, C3PO on crack and the voice of the Many in your head...
Thief is also good. Make one mistake and then watch them search for you, while you hide in the shadows and pray they come your way! Or when you're walking along and you see a dead body and you go over to it and.... its just a dead body but while you're looking at it, something shambled up behind you. You step away and draw steel and try to kill it and IT DOES NOT DIE. All it does is moan and keep coming and you don't have any holy water or fire arrows and all you can do is run and OH DEAR GODS THERE'S ANOTHER ONE!
Oh yeah. THAT'S atmosphere. THAT's setting. THAT's mood. AvP? Cheap schlock twitch action crap. Its Quake3 with more character, but still not a candle to Shock2 and Thief1&2.

See? Told ya! :D:ha:

If its just about heart beat, Dance Dance Revolution probably is the BEST GAME EVAR. It really gets the heart rate up. ;)
-
lol, its not about heart beat, its about why. Given a choice, would you rather be dude on system shock 2 or a single colonial marine in the middle of a nest of aliens with a few invisble predators thrown in to add some flavor?

AVP2 is scary, i cant stand those Face Huggers. They freak me out when i see em.

I'd be Garret! Garret's cool, he's not an anonymous guy like in AvP ( I won't say about SS2, coz I dunno :p ), Garret really cracks me up (well, i'm kindda the sardonic kind :p )

Let me think... nameless faceless colonial marine who needs to only have the IQ to dodge and pull a trigger...
OR, the sneaking poltergeist, who uses his hacking ability to turn the enemies turrets against him, who uses his psychic abilities to make enemies turn on each other, who uses his sneaks invisibly past the enemy, dropping a proximity mine along the way? Or maybe I COULD be the colonial marine blasting things mindlessly. Or I could be a swashbuckling rapier wielding dandy who fences with robots. Sorry, dude. I can do all of this because I can customize my character the way I want. AvP is just lacking.
Or, I could skip Shock2 entirely and play Thief and be Garret, a guy with personality, skill, and a blackjack.
-
*sigh*, well nobody's perfect

Sorry, NegspectahDek. I just don't groove on twitch games.
Shock2, Thief, Deus Ex all rock because they don't require you to be a twitch fiend. Thief actively encourages a zero-kill game. Deus Ex and Shock2 allow you to play twitch or play thoughtful and slow. I opt for Thoughtful and slow as often as possible.
AvP, like Quake, Doom, and even HalfLife, tends to push twitch gameplay. I've got reasonable reflexes, but the only place I have any interest of playing twitch-and-shoot is in a space combat sim or flight sim.
I've got a brain and I like to use it when it comes to gaming.

you sure are

Summing up - different people like different types of game

Too bad I never listen to them, I always walk in the front door, kill everyone and just walk around stealing stuff....I don't think that's how you're supposed to play

I'd be the Colonial Marine - at least I'd know what I'm fighing against, and I'd have my memory intact... :D
:ha:
(for those who didn't notice, that means System Shock 2 scares me a LOT more than AvP ;) )

Lol, you're better than me then, coz I can't handle more than two guys at a time in Thief ( yeah, I love this realistic way of handling fights, Garret is a thief, not a warrior, and actually the fact that I can handle two guys is even too much I think) -btw, you're not perfect, you can't slple :p
Btw, I'd be a colonial marine, coz I know I could at least shoot at things, being a hacker or a thief, that's out of my skills (not that I would last long as a marine anyway)
BTW, I like both kinds of FPS, coz initially, FPS are made to shoot at a lot of bad guys (hence the designation) coz I like to to mindless games sometimes. I don't really call Thief a FPS ( would mean first person slasher anyway in that case lol).
-
Personally, I'd be the alien. My prey glows in the dark, I can run on ceilings and walls as fast as i can on the floor, if i stop moving your funny little motion tracker toy cant pick me up, and i can run fast enough to get hack you to peinces before you can turn around and say 'eep'
-
In MP games, you can hide on the ceiling etc and people will just pass you by, then you jump down behind them and slash them to death. Also GTA3 is comming out in May for the PC :D. News article at planetavp.com.
-
that too. if they dont have flares, in a room with a ceiling, the maries are dead. end of story
at this rate, i wont need to get a ps2. spy hunter is coming to xbox, genma onimusha, and now gta3

Mechwarrior 4! You should see my Mad Cat! It's capable of unleashing 60 Clan LRMs, 2 Clan ERPPCs, and 6 Clan Medium Lasers in one volley! Die, Daishi! (http://www.3dap.com/hlp/hosted/gtdwolf/pics/screen0003.gif)
-
Bah, missiles... I prefer to mount 6 ER Larges on the Mad Cat.....
Mind you I have to add 20 heat sinks to keep the heat at a manageable level.... Not something you want to use on the desert maps... hell, its hot on the lunar ones...
-
This Mech was optimized for online servers without heat on :D
-
Listen.
A Hellbringer (Loki for all you Inner Sphere freaks) that does 68 points of damage in one strike.
2 LBX 10, 1 LBX 20, and 2 ER LL
Plus, the Timber Wolf (Mad Cat) is too slow. In the hands of an expert though, it's nasty, cause of all that tonnage.

:D
-
AAAARRRGGGHHH! LOKIS! I've come to hate those through playing Mechcommander. Takes too much time for my Mad Cat A variant to take it down.... Anyway, my Mad Cat does 85 ponts of damage a volley, but it can only go 80 KM/h. The Mad Cat with/ 4 ER LL does 32 damage a volley. So if you want your Loki, with it's inferior loadout, armor, and only slightly superior speed to die, send it against my Mad Cat [glow=red]:snipe:[/glow]
-

My thoughts exactly. Whenever a tricky approach is available, I usually go for that. I don't really try to avoid enemies completely, but I always like to carefully lure them into traps and pick them off one by one. One thing that was great about DX (and SS2 as well to some extent) was that it let you choose your gameplay style, and the levels were designed to accomodate every type of player. ;)
As with Venom though, I like both kinds of games; I am also an Unreal Tournament nut and the pace of that game is insanely fast. :D
AAAARRRGGGHHH! LOKIS!
Never played this game, but are they as bad as the ones in FS/FS2? :D
-
They're fairly fast, but still exceedingly nasty to face. They run around in circles 'till your Mad Cat fill them with LRMs. They look like they were designed by a schizo. Bunch of parts that don't go together...

Which will overheat in 3 seconds cause we don't cheat. :p

OK then, strip out CLRM 10s and replace them with heatsinks. That'll make it run right. 7 heat sinks are just what I need. I'll be down to 69 damage per strike, but my main weaponry (the ER PPCs) deal more damage than your ER LLs, and after your LBX ammo is depleted I'll still be ripping you with the ER MLs.
-
Blah, I would continue, but it's time to sleep.

:ha: I must say, this amuses me. For the first time, Australia isn't backwards; the rest of the world (with the exception of Japan and HK) has gotten DDR many months slower than we have. The fad has come and gone for a long time over here; and then suddenly, people start asking me about it. Heh. ;)

btw, since the game release, have they put new maps or anything for d/l ?

Actually First Person Sneaker ;)
Garret is a great character... I'm even planning to ask one of my relatives friend to make me a cloack like Garret has... or similiar :p

I used to play a helluva lot of quake2, play UT sometimes and some homeworld when I can :)
sshock2 and theif are great games.
-
Oh, has anyone played Clive Barker's Undying? I only heard via reviews that it was a cool idea, poorly executed.
-
I tried the demo.... sure it was a good idea and looked nice enough, but it was a bit too... well Heretic like for me... a bit too FPS (Shooter). I think a story like that one would have deserved an another game type... I think
-
And meanwhile, there's a Thief mod for UT... :)
http://www.3dap.com/files/files.asp?id=3183
-
cool! I might get UT only for that lol ( actually no, I'd rather get... hhaaaarrrr!!! thief2 :( I could never get it, every time I see it i'm short on money or any other reason, imagine my pain, I just drool on the box everytime I see it -I guess if I buy this particular box the CD won't work, now  )

Quite a few maps, not to mention the Black Knight expansion. Still have to get that...
-
they are to release two mech packs soon btw, the inner anc clan mech packs. both contains 4 new mechs, some new weapons and a new map ( kindda cheap for an addon you have to pay if you ask me )
-
I actually got Deus Ex, Thief II and MDK2 free with my sound card (computer had the sound card and the company uses retail products, so it included the games). It also came with UT, but I already had that. One of the best software bundles I have ever seen. ;)

Dark has fallen from grace? Lies. All Lies.!
Anyhow on MW4 as I've seen it mentioned here, long range lasers seem to be the best, loaded on a mech with high speed and lots of heatsinks for the tonnage. It's fun just sniping from as far as possible while plucking off missile mounts and short range weapons.
Another fun config is running up close and unleashing loads of flamers on the target for kamakazies ;)
-
well, in team play, catapults with very long range weapons can be a pain, too :p

I'll make a note of that... It's a bit like SShock, then... ;)

if you want an idea of mindless fun, try the Resident evil series, i didn't find it all that scary though the "hissing" noise from the lickers gave me the creeps.

Really? I heard RE was actually kind of atmospheric and moody (a bit like what people have described Max Payne as here)... I'll have to try it myself. What's the gameplay style like? :)
-
Thats ported from PS. Rendered backgrounds, 3rd person view, graphics suck plain until RE3. Much like an adventure game, only with zombies, and a lot of places that scare the hell outta you.

I see... do enemies respawn infinitely in RE, or is that another game? :)

excellent translation :)

Unreal has an awesome singleplayer campaign in my opinion, being slightly edged out only by DX and MOHAA. ;)

Ah, that's the classic mindless blaster. Try Doom 2 on ultra-violence and get ready for some true insanity. :D When a horde of 30 or so of those pig guys suddenly rush at you, some enemy dude (usually that guy who spawns heads) hits them accidentally and the pigs then start eating him and his heads up, I can't help but burst out laughing. :D

Bah, the first Unreal, dunno, I didn't think it was fun, there was no feeling, nothing. Sure it was pretty ( with all that MMX fluff back then, it'd better ), but it was... no
Plus I couldn't finish the damn solo part, I staid stuck in a stupid crashed ship with acid pools, couldn't find the switch to open the door. great way to quit playing a game

Don't worry. My kills always outnumber my deaths, unless I'm playing on a server where all my enemies are Daishis and Atlases. Then my Mad Cat gets turned into scrap. Usually take a few with me anyway.

Next saturady I go back homr for two weeks. When I'll go back to my flat, I'll bring MW4 back with me and i'll try to catch you online

Venom, tell us what callsign you use when you do.

BTW, my favorite strategy in MW4 is taking out the center torso on the small mechs, the legs on the big, nasty ones, and ripping the missile banks off of the Catapults and watching them try to run before taking out their legs :D
