I'm playing through FSPort, and the first time I failed a mission five times, I told it not to ask me if I wanted to skip the mission again.
Now, having failed Playing Judas more than five times, I'm regretting that decision... any way I can get the option back?
-
Man, that's annoying.
Well, if you're really stuck, and there's no way to get it back, try going to the techroom and pressing ctrl-shift-S. You'll be able to play every mission in the mission simulator. It's not quite as good, but it's an option.
-
Playing Judas isn't that hard a mission. Use hotkeys.
-
You can also hit 'f3' and select all the ships that are in danger of detecting you. Then press 'f5' in game and you'll get constant distance readouts on all of them.
-
Or, use cheats and ~K Arujuna wing.

You could do that??? I need to scour the controls for useful stuff like this.
I beat that mission by putting Arjuna wing on escort list and cycling through them by holding down "E" when not scanning stuff.
-
You can put ships on the escort list in mission? Damn, I need to look at the little book I got with the game now.
-
You got a book? Damn.

That's what I did last time, took me 3 times to finish it on FS1 though. o_o

I sometimes wonder if I'm the only person who has never once come close to failing Playing Judas. If you fly just about straight ahead from your starting point and park yourself near the node, I don't think Arjuna wing flies anywhere close to you. :p

Iirc you can also skip all objectives other than scanning the luci.
Meaning: Wait at the start, activate time compression until luci arrives and stops, scan it, survive. (well, last part may still need a few tries)
Worked on FSport, didn't play retail in a long time, so don't know if it works there as well.

Yeah, I still find new controls I haven't used after years of playing. Currently trying to remember how to adjust the cockpit view :>
-
Eh. You see, after the 2nd time of failing it, I actually took the time to figure out the flight paths of Arjuna wing. That helps immensely.
Also, sitting around waiting for the lucy is lame. I think it's worth it to get every single primary, secondary, and bonus objective unless they're not supposed to be able to be accomplished.
And the hat (look-around) controls are ultra useless. If you want to see around you, hit the decimal point to trigger external view. You can even scroll your view faster with your mouse than you can with your hat controls. The disadvantage is that you lose any tracking progress your aspect lock would have made. If it's already locked, however, it's fine.
But to un-de-rail this thread: Unless you know how to edit your pilot file, I don't think you can.

You can skip all the objectives, period. If you wait around until your warp is disabled and then reactivated, you can continue in the campaign. (You'll suffer for it in the later missions, though.)
-
How so?

From teh Wiki:
SC Raja: Present during Evangelist. Only appears if player fails to scan capital ships in Playing Judas.
-
That's a good thinh, really... it's for the sake of the killboard... :nervous:
-
Huh, I always thought quitting than losing the mission five times again would get you that option again.
-
Or just call in a couple of terran lucies and a few wings of hercs. And make ourself invulnerable.

But what are the objectives in-mission worth? Scanning the ships could be worth more.

It is good to know. Ignore Eva, just scan me.
-
Playing judas is easy enough really. The thing that's a ***** and totally retarded is when you have to fly into the luci's fighter bay. Then you get detected. Then you hate having a malfunctioning ship.

I was like 12 when I first played that mission. I remember my hands shaking until five minutes after I finished the mission. Good times.
