Does anyone know how to put new music in FS2 cos i got some of the tracks from Red Faction eg Spectre, progession and poltergiest and was wanting to get them into fs but i don't know how so do any of you know?

Sure. First convert your soundtrack to wave format and then put it into freespace/data/music folder (replace it with an existing soundtrack).
-
Do what Ten said, look for the correct filenames at music.tbl, and us ADPCM 22 050 format. Freespace likes that format :)

ok i'll give it a try:)

It's that simple? So you can add more music than was originally programmed like 30 or 40 different themes based on the action instead of the 10 or so options?
-
No, that actually requires editing tables, which have a track limit of... somewhere near 15. The best you can do w/o editing tables is replacing those already there.
-
yeah, and it's really not that easy, coz you also have to edit those numbers at the end of the entry, so they play at the rihgt moment and all ingame, and, well, I could never figure that out.

And one little mistake can make an entire track not work. It can be very finicky to put in new tracks.

Didn't they lose the effect those numbers made in FS2?

Well, most of them still do affect how long a music file plays, but some others don't seem to do anything. (i.e. the numbers for the "ambience" tracks)

Well i got the track Spectre working i used tracks 1,3,4 and 5 and it sounds very good in freespace.

You wouldn't mind sending me some? Never heard RF music.
