Title: Hello, I'm new here!

I'm Siigari (formerly known as Dirp back in the day of Descent gaming) and I've found my old FS2 CD booklet and manual and after some random googling and finding out Interplay is back and Descent 4 is on the way, I am treating myself to a walk down memory lane.

Descent games have always had a special place in my heart. They are truly some of the most creative and original forms of gaming artwork I have ever seen. With Descent's 6DOF and Freespace's amazing visuals and great gameplay, they are a homage to space games for all time.

In Freespace, my favorite ship of choice would have to be the Seth ;3 That ship is probably hands-down my favorite dogfighter. Going what I would consider a standard loadout of Banshee/Prometheus and wielding twin Phoenix Vs, a head-on assault from this ship with shields to full at the front is probably my favored tactic :) Hard as a rock.

I am happy and excited to bring my copy of Freespace to come play and download new updates, game mods and more. Thanks for having me here!

And, just to say one thing: this forum is INCREDIBLY BUSY visually. Is there any way to tone it down a bit?

If you have any problems setting up things with FreeSpace 2 Open and it's various improvements, give us a shout and someone will likely be there to offer help within ten minutes.

Hmm, strange... I haven't noticed anything of the sort. In fact I find HLP to be quite stoic as far as the forum theme is considered.

I guess you could disable signatures. Or add "/wap2.html" to the end of forum links. It will make the forum... much more simple. Although more difficult to use.

Yeah I played the tutorial again and got my wings, but I'm being sort of casual about it right now.

I'm going to go back through the FS1 campaign and enjoy that, then play FS2.

To be honest, I didn't like some of the system-wide nerfs that were brought on in FS2. My Vasudan ships got beaten over the head with weapon nerfs and I was sad in dogfights. But the campaign was indeed awesome.

I'll get to it eventually :) And then Silent Threat as well. (I still remember getting the lolertastic 8-Bit DND short with the Summoner Geek characters on the ST CD. lol).

speaking of JAD, where could one obtain those? They are greyed out in the turney installer for some reason.

If you want to be in close touch with what's happening on HLP, try lurking about on the IRC channel, because lots of stuff go around first-hand and uncensored over there. ;)
