Ok I know this is really stupid to say and the support post says dont say it but I swear I am doing everything right :P
I have started playing the freespace 2 campaign with my friend on multiplayer using hamachi and manually setting IP's. We are both using the fs2_open_3_6_10r-20081224_r5019.exe build with the 3.6.10 mediavps. The first mission goes fine but the second mission says that there are 13 missing ships. I press continue and the game crashes and gives me an error screen with the text attached (fso problem 1.txt). When I click continue to debug I get this error message straight away (see fso problem 2.txt). If I just cancel I get the error message (fso problem 3.txt). Now I'm no stranger to fred 2 but I havent the slightest clue what any of this stuff means. I have sent an email to kv1at3485 to ask for his input but I'm trying here to. The same problem happens with the single player campaign. However it seems this problem is only with the main campaign. It seems as though I genuinley am missing the ships but I just re-downloaded the mediavps (which I assume has the models) but I get the same problems. I'm going to try and download the models themselves (\freespace 2\data\models) but I dont think that will work. Anyway everything that is asked for in the support thread is provided as attachments. Thanks in advance for any help.

Step 1: get 3.6.10 RC2 and use that instead.
Step 2: look for loose VPs from any mods in your main FS2 directory. That might be screwing up your shiplist. In fact, can we get a screenshot of your FS2 directory?
-
First since you are using the MediaVPs you don't need the CooPFreeSpace2.vp. Move that file out of your FS2 directory. If that doesn't solve it try re downloading the MediaVPs manually. Could be a corrupted .vp.
-
Run the debug version and post the FS2_Open.log you'll find in data.
For some reason the game is unable to find the standard FS2 ships. The log will tell us why.
-
The log was attatched to his second post. I'm not entirely sure of MV_Advanced since I'm yet to generate a log with it, but the rest of the MediaVPs and retail files seem ok. That CooP thing might affect the situation.
Also, garethwilliams, check at least \FreeSpace2\MediaVPs\data\tables\ and \FreeSpace2\data\tables\ to see if there are any unwanted files there.

Wow thanks for the massive response guys ^_^
That aside @ General Battuta I have tried with the RC2 build and even with the other builds however I still get the same problem. The only loose .vp's I can find are the standard ones, I think they are supposed to be there. Please find the requested screenshot attached and let me know.
@ Fubar I have tried with and without the CooPfreespace2.vp in my Freespace 2 folder. I put that there because I thought maybe the campaign in the mediavps was corrupted but neither way works. Also I have downloaded the vp's both the complete version and the individual vp's, neither solved the problem.
@ Lobo ..... I uh, I dont have a \FreeSpace2\MediaVPs\data\tables\ folder. Is that a bad thing? Also I looked in my \Freespace2\data\tables folder for unwanted files but I dont know what would count as unwanted, thus I have attached a screenshot of the contents of that folder for your scrutiny.
I have also begun a total re-install of the whole thing on a new partition of my hard drive. I hope that this will replace any corrupt files and get the whole thing working again. Thanks for the help once again guys

It is actually a good thing if you don't have the \freespace2\mediavps\data\tables directory. As for \freespace2\data\, all the subfolders in there should be empty, apart from \freespace2\data\players\ and possibly \freespace2\data\freddocs\. The table files that you have in \freespace2\data\tables\ are from... something, most likely not retail. Remove them.

I have finished the total re-install of FSO and it all works fine now. Still not sure what the problem was and would still appreciate any input so I dont make the same mistake again ^_^ Thanks again for all the help!

@ Lobo.
Good work friend. I checked the subfolders of the \Freespace2\data\ folder and alot of them were full. I deleted all the contents whilst leaving the ones you mentioned as they were and all was well again ^^ Thanks
