So I was playing the regular FS2 campaign and I've been noticing that some of the ships (mostly things like cruisers, corvettes, and capital ships) don't have any kind of engine glow behind them. Basically it looks the same as if they were disabled. And for some reason whenever I restart the mission (by pushing escape and selecting 'restart mission') the engine glows are there. BTW I'm running 3.6.10, and when I switched back to 3.6.9. just to see if it made a difference, the engines glows were back. And I tried playing retail FS2, without any mods or the mediavps selected, and it still had this problem.
I'm really stumped on this one. Anyone know why this could be? It doesn't really bother me, but I was just wondering. And I'm running this on a Dell Inspiron 6000 Laptop with an ATI Mobility Radeon X300.

Hmmmm..... you have the mediavps installed don't you? Which exe's are you using? The RC2 exe's? (Yes Lobo, I remembered this time :) )

Also with any graphical issues, first thing you should check is whether your video card drivers are up to date.

Check the stickied Troubleshooting FAQ on this board. At the bottom of the thread, read the "Your fs2_open.log: " part, act according to the instructions and post your fs2_open.log here as an attachment or using the code tags.

I followed the instructions on the board, and tried running the latest nightly build of fsopen. And now all the engine glows seem to be back to normal since I can see them on every ship. So I guess the problem is pretty much solved, do you still want me to post an fs2_open.log or can we just forget this ever happened? :)
Thanks for replying so quickly guys.

If it works now, there's no real need for the log anymore. But there's also no reason to forget this, because there's always hope that people with the same problem might stumble upon this thread and find the answer to their problem all by themselves.
