Title: looking for free mucis composition software

I've been thinking the one aria of modding I have yet to master is the music, so I was wondering if anyone knows of any free software (including free demos of unfree sofware) that I can enter musical notation and have it generate a MIDI like output and manage diferent layers of this stuff.
is anyone aware of such a thing.

Mucus composition? I don't even wanna know if that's a Freudian slip of some sort...;)


And no, I know nothing about any composition programs at all, much less freeware ones.

ModPlug Tracker maybe? I think that can edit midi's.
