Title: Federal Reserve can't account for 9 trillion dollars
Post by: Goober5000 on May 27, 2009, 05:55:41 pm
Watch this video (http://www.wimp.com/reservelosing/), specifically the part at around 3 minutes.

Quote
Senator: So what I'm asking you is, if your agency has extended 9 trillion dollars in credit, which by the way works out to about 30 thousand dollars for every man, woman, and child in the country, I'd like to know, if you're not responsible for investigating that... who is?

Inspector General (complete with deer in the headlights look): no... umm.. well... we... actually... have responsibility for the Federal Reserves programs and operations... audits...to conduct audits and investigations in that area...  In terms of who's responsible for investigating... umm... would you mind repeating the question one more time?

Tell 50 Cent that. Man wears enough jewelry to rival most women. Besides, I like my Gold Dollar chain  :pimp:

Most women? Are you kidding? That guy's a walking, talking disco ball. If he sold off all his bling he could probably pull the US a few trillion into the green. :p

These "off balance sheet" transactions again.

Looks like historically Enron's practices propably won't be considered a fluke, but rather the beginning of a trend lol.

Ugh.  These are the kind of things that make me yearn for the return of the Gramm-Rudman-Hollings Act.

O, but for the days of this (http://www.answers.com/topic/gramm-rudman-hollings-deficit-reduction-act).  (That is, if it had ever worked to begin with :doubt:.  At least they had the right idea.)

I should be surprised at the level of ineptitude of the Federal government, yet somehow I aren't.  Does that mean I am just too jaded, or does it mean that the Federal government is known for having its left hand not know what the right hand is doing?

You're thinking too broadly. The legs and stomach are paying the palms and wrists to gain access to the fingers when they should have no access at all.

Now I'm going to end this analogy before its tits fall off.
