Title: News on EACW...
Post by: Skullar on June 09, 2009, 09:53:29 am
Hello people !

I have been VERY busy with fredding... and within the next 2-3 days I will have completed parts 1 and 2 of the campaign.

The campaign splits up in 7 parts ( 5-8 missions each )

So.... here is the deal. Either I release the ENTIRE Civil War campaign when it's done, or I can release it in 3 packages.

Package 1 : Parts 1 and 2       ( 13 missions )
Package 2 : Parts 3 and 4       ( 13 missions )
Package 3 : Parts 5, 6 and 7   ( 20 missions )

However, I will need the ENTIRE voiceacting prior to releasing anything. Mostly because of actors deserting inbetween packages.... lol :)

But.... in case you all help me to get voiceacting together within the next... lets say... 2 weeks,   this means you have EACW package 1 within THIS month and packages 2 and 3 within this year.

What do you think ?

P.S:   For those who want to start over already : I will upoad updated scripts tomorrow.

I'd actually prefer to get the whole thing as one big package.
But I wouldn't really mind either way.

Release in three parts is very good idea, it will get a lot attention/support and finishing other parts will become  easier.

As for the voiceacting, I already did my part, and if you need more lines/characters I'm still available.

Yep and you should name them EACW : episode 1,2,3 like the half-life 2 series ^^

I would prefer a All-in-One Release :)

I don't like "To be continued..." releases :)

I'm also available to do some additional voice work if needed Skullar.

Thanks, SHADOW, that will be IF I somehow come to making severe changes to mission outlines during the fredding process, as with mission 10 1 week ago...

By the way.... missions 1 to 12b done, I am playing around with my very personal version of SEVERED dreams. Have to delay work on it ill Sunday though, but..... This thing is packed with cutscene sexps, coordinate manipulation and individual music setups..... So many SEXPS are starting to scare me off :)

I got my Cmdr.Hale actor yesterday on the line, saying he is doing the remaining samples :) Shadow is clear, I found someone for Balrok, and a friend of mine is in town to do Geezer.  I think I will spend a few hours with him this or next week and record his lines.

By the way .....
@ fredders :
for all you fredders out there ...... I found the current Sexps can be used for VERY nice camera movements....

Try out something like this :

event   cam track Alpha 1
      every-time
              and
                     is-event-true-delay
                           Cutscene start
                           0
                     not
                             is-event-true-delay
                                    Cutscene start
                                    10
       set-camera-position
                  getobjectx
                           Alpha1
                  getobjecty
                           Alpha1
                  getobjectz
                           Alpha1
                  2500
                  1500
                  800
      set-camera-facing-object
                  getobjectx
                           Alpha1
                  getobjecty
                           Alpha1
                  getobjectz
                           Alpha1
                  900
                  400
                  400

Catch-22 : You combine an EVERY-TIME trigger with an effect that is supposed to take some time on its own, resulting in multiple position/facing instructions that are carried out at the same time.
I did it on error and expected something nasty to happen, but surprisingly it worked like a charm.

A must-try for everyone who lusted for a decent mount-camera alternative.

I think releasing in 3 parts is more prudent.  Skullar thanks for doing this!!!

Lets get some EACW now.....  get them hooked.   ;)

Skullar..  let me know if you need any help in finishing off any of the remaining parts for voice acting.  Trainor is done.

Thanks

I know that I signed up to do voice acting for Balrok, but that I abandoned the project. I can still do it, if you need me too. I would like to redo all the ones I have done (I have a better mic now)

---> send samples there , and state the amount of time you are willing to spent ( just a few lines, or up to 3-4 hours for bigger role )

Part 3 is almost done, I am fredding on mission 20 :)

Missing voiceacting isn't slowing me down any longer, but keeps me from releasing. I could give you an EPISODE 1 with 20 missions already :) lol

Well. record a line and send me : [email protected]

I can filter out background noise, so....

Even poorer quality can be taken, for smaller roles with ingame appearance over radio...

Developers blog SKULLAR , June 30, 2009

I have started with campaign part 4, mission 20 just needs some final polishing. BLACKSHEEP has volunteered for voiceacting, another important pilot covered.
I think this release in parts thing isn't gonna work. By the time I have the actors needed for an episode 1 I will have already fredded the entire campaign.
At current speed I am doing a mission every 2 or 3 days, do your maths.... lol

Skullar, check your PMs. I've been trying to reach you about which sets of Geezer's lines I already sent in.

gosh THAT'S CRAZY. Although, I remember having a similar speed when during the second half of FH2260.
Still, considering that ended up to be a 12 mission campaign...   :)

But what was the last set of lines I sent? I seem to recall recording up to mission 4, but I don't remember if I sent more than mission 2's lines to you, or if I did, I don't remember you acknowledging them being received.

I can only find mission 1 here. Either I lost some stuff ( can't be !! ) or somehow nothing you sent ever reached me...

Well, doesnt matter. Glad you are doinf it. Geezer is missions 1-19 :)

I'll see if I still have the ogg files and send them though again. If not, well, I've got some re-recording to do.

Sorry, haven't been here for WEEKS.

Actually, I pretty much fredded parts 1,2,3 and 4

I put a LOT of work into some of the missions, and there are hours of EACW playable already :) .... but suffered a severe motivation crashdown after my joystick broke. I was working on the last mission of part 4 for days ( never satisfied ) and needed a brake. I think I did nothing for almost 2 months now.

Well, I might restart my work soon, there is SO MUCH done already I could never abandon EACW, but these periods of doing nothing keep happening from time to time. Mostly because I have to organize EVERYTHING on my own. And I HATE it to run after voiceactors....
