I assume you've selected ITDOH Chapter 1 as your mod. Did you then go to the campaign room and select it as your current campaign?

1. You shouldn't have a "downloaded" OpenGL, since OpenGL has been a part of all graphics card drivers since '96 or something. On that note, make sure you have the latest drivers for your graphics card.
2. 3.6.9 is old. I'd advise you to try 3.6.10 RC3.
3. Run a debug build (preferrably 3.6.10 RC3 debug if you chose to download it). Once you get to the point where you experienced this crash, quit. There is now a file called fs2_open.log in your \freespace2\data\ folder. Post it here.
Edit: And yes, make sure that you've selected ITDOH as the active mod and have selected the ITDOH campaign from the in-game Campaign Room.

yeah ive either done all of that or it isn't applicable... i cant run 3.6.10 cos my intel card wont run it... just crashes when i try and start up the game... ive looked at the bug page for it here on HLP and its just not gna work..
yeah ive had ITDOH as both my MOD and selected it as my campaign in the campiagn room.. does anyone have ne ideas for fixing this bug other than downloading 3.6.10.. it should work on 3.6.9 cos i downloaded it before 3.6.10 RC1 was released.

3.6.9 debug will suffice, even though the information provided by it is somewhat limited.

Well... Outputting a debug log (ie. fs2_open.log) would certainly help...
But couple of things you can do which may or may not help with the campaign issue... First, make a new pilot. Second, go to campaign selection room and make sure you select the proper campaign. Then try starting going to the ready room.
