Title: 3.6.10 Multiplayer Issue
Post by: portej05 on July 09, 2009, 12:36:50 pm
Hi Folks,

In an effort to solve the nagging multiplayer problem, we've narrowed the source of the problem down to one of three builds. The debug and release builds are posted below.
They are numbered based on the SVN commit. If you could try them all, and let us know which one(s) have the problem, and which one doesn't, we'd be mighty thankful.
We'd also love it to have a response to this within the next 48 hours.

5147 Debug (http://porteous.no-ip.org/FS2Files/netbugtrackdown/fs2_open_3_6_10d_5147.exe)
5147 Release (http://porteous.no-ip.org/FS2Files/netbugtrackdown/fs2_open_3_6_10r_5147.exe)
5190 Debug (http://porteous.no-ip.org/FS2Files/netbugtrackdown/fs2_open_3_6_10d_5190.exe)
5190 Release (http://porteous.no-ip.org/FS2Files/netbugtrackdown/fs2_open_3_6_10r_5190.exe)
5207 Debug (http://porteous.no-ip.org/FS2Files/netbugtrackdown/fs2_open_3_6_10d_5207.exe)
5207 Release (http://porteous.no-ip.org/FS2Files/netbugtrackdown/fs2_open_3_6_10r_5207.exe)

Are all these builds RC2/3 compatible?  If so I'll toss 5190 up and see if it crashes when people use it.

They should all have been released some time between RC2 and RC3.

Great his server is timing out.  Are these Knightly's?

Never mind just answered my own question.   They aren't in the Knightly build forum.  Anyplace else I can grab them?

I've got 5190 up and running on the Bar & Grill

Hi Folks,

We were able to recreate a whole pile of issues in Multiplayer, that may or may not have been related to any of the reported bugs.

I'd like to publicly thank The_E, Flaming_Sword and Aardwolf for all their help in this.

As it stands, it looks like 3.6.10 will still have some multiplayer issues that won't be sorted out until the next release.  So 3.6.10 is probably going to go out as is, and we'll work to stabilize and get the next one out the door as soon as possible.

So what's are best course of action then.  Keep running RC3 or go to 3.6.11 Knightly builds for multi?

run 3.6.11  its not just the problems with  being dropped and kicked , its the load times that arent helping , and the latest 3.6.11 trunk loads way faster but is here a  problem with running standalones with this

Seconded - it took quite an effort to get that thing going last night.
I think some better instructions might go a long way to alleviating the problem though.

i should add though , that last nights issues seem to be a pxo issue (server side) i spent a little time with kara (thankyou) trying to get the server up , and failed using the 3.6.11 trunk , rc3, rc3 inf(TBP) all with and without mediavps or zathras(TBP).... kara has contacted taylor so hopefully we will find out what is going wrong...
the good news is that you can host directly with the 3.6.11 trunk build .......... maybe if we can get a few ppl together to test a little then we can mve on and use this build for every day multiplayer , and create an INF build for TBP

once again many thanks for all the pl in th escp team for getting things moving and better ........

What's really mystifying me is why FS2NetD was reporting the existence of FUBAR's stand alones but not yours to the game while the website did show all 4.

Already have done. FS2NetD wasn't sending the information it should have done.
