Title: Asking this looks like the bane of common sense, but...
Post by: Enzo03 on July 09, 2009, 04:31:36 pm
Where do I save my missions? (http://tmnforever.tm-exchange.com/smiles/rofl.gif)
I only ask this because while I was able to FRED in good ol' FS1 all the time, I tried FS2, got FRED's tutorial done, threw in stuff of my own, and then decided to save. It said not to change directory... no big deal...

...except it turned out in "My Documents", for original FRED2, and FRED2 Open goes to the main FS2 directory.
Of course, neither of which work. So as it is, I'm really stuck.

Sad... I can map and mod for Halo Custom Edition, which requires a modeling program, but I can't even do this :P

Missions go into the data\missions\ directory in your main FS folder (or the folder of the mod you're making the mission for)

Ok I'll try there but I didn't see anything but... backup... files...
I kept thinking I should try there but I was unsure...

Yup. Works...

Problem is that FRED used to default to the correct folder but now it defaults to My Documents and as a result everyone goes horribly wrong. :D You're not the first to ask Enzo. :)

Then maybe we should add it to some commonly used FAQ, I also had this problem when I began to FRED (I have figured it out myself back then, but it took me some time).
Kara, your FS FAQ would be a good example of such place.

I'm already updating the FRED documentation actually. :)
