Title: Troubles with the Blender -> Collada -> POF conversion.
Post by: esarai on July 10, 2009, 08:57:03 pm
Hi all,

Been having an issue with getting the Blender > DAE >POF conversions right.  The current Blender Collada script ignores hierarchy, and the PCS2 DAE importer deletes all portions of a model that are not in their appropriate places in the hierarchy.  This is an extraordinarily aggravating aspect, especially when the Blender Collada script fails so miserably.

I heard rumors of an improved Collada script for Blender that actually does hierarchy. Could someone please link me to it or otherwise inform me of it's location?

So apparently I misinformed him, it was an improved Blender to cob script from Water last year.  But I can't imagine the Blender to Collada is that broken when VA has it working fine.

Try the settings shown here. Some of your disappearing objects should be visible.

I think having "Only Export Selection" deselected may be the key.

Thanks for the help.  I notice now that the option "Only Export Selected" was selected when I exported. This causes the exporter to drop all hierarchy information and cause severe pain later.  I have added a warning to the Blender to Pof Conversions page on the wiki so that no one will fall prey to this again.
