Title: Docking Bay open! You are clear to land! Or are you????

my crappy spaceship I made... Its been years since I played Freespace 2 but since I've stumbled across this great forum its perked my interested again. So I dug up my old cds and I am having some deep space fun again. I've only gone through a couple of the 1st mission - and I realised - you don't do any docking in Freespace. They conveniently use Alt-J to get you in and out of missions. However I found it interesting that calling the rearming bot was interesting in that aspect that perhaps using that code - you can create a command to script your ship to dock - rather the other way around - hence creating the Docking ability. I should start looking at the code - but I need to first read more from these forums.

Some campaigns do have you ending missions by docking with your command ship. I can't recall any off the top of my head though.

Some campaigns do have you ending missions by docking with your command ship. I can't recall any off the top of my head though.

Oooh thats good news. Looks like we can just use whats already there.
Yeah, it's really just good use of the game detecting the player's distance to a ship's fighterbay subsystem, but it does the job.

It looks like he's suggesting the player ship autopilot to dock with the hangar though (X games-style), which is a bit different from having the mission end when you're a certain distance away from the subsystem.

What if you gave sexped the key J, to give control of the player to the AI, and dock with whichever ship he was meant to dock with? That's about as far as I think we can go at the moment, but if you were to model a ship that had a hanger with specific dockpoints that the player could dock with that would be amazing.

You can't add the dock goal to the player even after player-use-AI.

I haven't tried it using departure cues.
