I have encountered a problem with the UEF frigate, I had created a mission involing the ship and i noticed that the turrets fire through the hull, so if your attacking the ship from one side, the turrets from the other side of the ship will attack me by firing through the hull. How do i go about solving this?
PS you guys are doing a awesome job!
-
You're right, some turrets do fire through the hull. It needs to be corrected in the model file, there's nothing you can do unless you can edit pof-files.
-
I think some of StratComm's corvettes do that too.
-
It's a thing to do with the multipart turrets. Unless I'm mistaken, there's no way to play around with fire cones for multiparts that stop them from firing through the hull. If I am mistaken, someone quickly illuminate me so that I can get around to fixing the pofs :P

That's actually a game-wide issue, like some AAA beams have gone as far as shooting completely through a Hecate to hit its target.
Seen the Ravana and Raksasha do the same.
-
I thought that the problem on the Hecate had been solved, i haven't seen the beams go through the hull on the media vp hi-polpy version because i know the terslash's on the side were bad for it. Oh well.
-
I usually see it here and there. Typically though the Hecate is usually on my side so I have no problems with that. :P
The Karuna does the same thing though, going completely through itself when it fires?
I wonder, how well would any ship be able to defend itself if the turret firepoints were all properly implemented. ;7

I know simple solution of the firing througt hull problem, but it requires 3.6.11 build.
Add: $Flags: ( "Check Hull" )
to each turret that has this problem, after $Default PBanks: .
More info here: http://www.hard-light.net/wiki/index.php/Subsystem
I hope this will help you, there is no need to mess with .POFs.

Cheers Dragon, i shall give that a whirl :)

According to the wiki, "Check Hull" works on 3.6.10.

YAY it works perfectly!!
