How does one go about making the .pcx images for an ani file. Do I need to load the models into something like Truespace and do it image by image?

There are lots of ways. Do it that way if it pleases you. You could create a GIF and extract the frames from that as PCX, simple.

How do you guys(the pro's) do it. It's probably the simplest way

I assume you're talking about things like shield ANIs?
I'm no expert, but here's the procedure I was planning-
1. Make a low-res render of the ship from the top.
2. Make it grey, using Irfanview or whatever else I need.
3. Extract a ship with similar proportions- I was planning either Pegasus or Perseus.
4. Extract all PCX's in the ANI, and replace the one with just the ship with mine.
5. Recompile into new ANI, and I'd be done.
Of course, this is a procedure I've planned, but have yet to execute- my ship isn't done yet. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Oh, you want shield anis? Hell, I've done all of Warlock's and the Perseus 2 for TM - I pretty much use the technique Sushi described. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

I was actually asking about command briefing ani's. Sorry if I wasn't specific.
All the info I've gotten should be enough tho. Thx for everyone's help.
