I just installed the port of the original freespace with freespace open and i've found that during missions, any ship being destroyed that is NOT a fighter (i.e. freighters, cruisers, etc.) will cause the game to crash as soon as it's hull reaches 0 percent. This has occurred in every single mission I have played thus far. As soon as a large ship is destroyed, the game crashes to my desktop - I just avoided destroying freighters till the mission I'm currently on, which is "out of the darkness, into the night," in which a Vasudan cruiser is destroyed as part of the storyline. Anyone know what may be going on? Let me know if there is any other information you need me to provide...

What version of FSPort? Where did you get it from and where did you install it to? Are you using it with the MediaVPs? If so same questions. What FS2_Open build are you using? You should be using 3.6.10 RC3.

Your fs2_open.log couldn't hurt. Details on how to create one can be found here (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,56279.msg1180359.html#msg1180359).

I've never heard of this before. Please, make sure you're using FSPort 3.1.1, and if you have Media VPs that you've configured them properly.
Also, please post what Freespace Open build you're running.

Try a debug build. That should solve the crashing. Bet also beams make it crash, am I right?
Warning!! the debug build will spam you with warnings (If thingies aren't cleaned up). Just 'click no to continue' on all of them.

Wait wait wait, a debug build won't 'solve' anything. It'll help you diagnose the problem. You should never be playing consistently with a debug build (or at least there's no good reason to.)

Only if the mod is full of errors. The FSPort staff, being responsible people, have cleaned up all of their errors. Debug builds running on FSPort generate 0 warnings. :D

That's why I cared to say 'if things aren't cleaned up' (by the mod creator)
To stay on-topic: you can always try a build change and see if it does solve the crash. (@ BKN89)

Maybe we should wait for the guy to reply before giving him conflicting instructions...
