Woohoo! 750th post! As a present to you all, I'd like to give you... a reasonable topic!
So...What's your favorite movie? :D
-
I want to see 13 ghosts. Is it any good?
"This house is a machine.....powered by the dead!"
Which is funny, because one of my favorite skinny puppy songs has the following lines:
"Nothing can penetrate this barrier.
It has the strength of a million souls.
The power of the dead!" :D
-
Bah! It's just a ****ty remake of House and House II. All that crystal skull stuff was uber-scary.
-
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas...
Best acid trip ever....
"PLEASE! TELL ME ABOUT THE ****ING GOLF SHOES!"
-
FaL had people that were total rips of Donesbury characters....

As I view this thread, it says '765'. :D
Uhhh, lessee. How about Pearl Harbour? Honestly... just imagine all the characters as Lt. Ash, and all the fighters as Apollos. See! It's good! :D

Oops... ;)
Man, that movie had good special effects...talk about not knowing what's real or not
-
I rarely read Donesbury, so I wouldnt know....
Hell, its not in the papers out here anymore..
-
Animal House
Now that was funny. Looking through the obituaries for dead frat-girls then going to their frat house and 'comforting' their bereived friends. A total classic.

They used Lightwave?
-
I wouldn't blame them... Babylonian Productions, did...
It really comes down to the rotoscoping, though... now that impressed me...
-
I'm just surprised it was Lightwave...I thought all the big names used Maya or something... :o
-
If this is Pearl harbour, then yes..

Ooh! Ooh! The top picture uses hypervoxels! See, I have been doing my homework!
That looks about the right quality, actually...neato
-
So does the bottom one... (the flak)

LW is industrial-strength as they come...
-
Oh...who needs Maya anyhow? :D
-
I've used Maya..
I hate it....
-
They have a free version out, now...
-
Thats what I have...
Quite annoying to work with..
-
Can you make anything with it? A cube? :p

I don't think so... Of course, I had trouble doing that in MAX... :D

yes...
took me 20 minutes to figure out how mind you..
-
Yeah, Lightwave does look good...I mean, they generated the effects in ST 6 with it! :D
-
Star Trek? Nooo.... :p
-
They do DS9 with it if I'm not mistaken...

What about Enterprise
-
yes, they do everything with lightwave.
ST, B5, most movies, anything you can think of.
-
They did Chrono Cross with Lightwave too, it's in the credits...

ChronoCross used Lightwave for all the real time models. Cutscenes were done in Maya.
-
I have only seen four or five movies in my life, but out of those, I would say that "Tora! Tora! Tora!" is probably the best.

And everyone was looking at us funny at the theater after the said that line in the trailer... :D

Indeed. Maya has a dodgy modeller, apparently (well, at least, in comparison)...
-
Can the free version of Maya make as good qualtiy pictures as Lightwave can?
-
Never trust a free version... Just look at Truespace. ;)
-
None of them can even touch Softimage XSI or Houdini.
BLEH!
Maya is absolutely horrible. The renderer is slow as hell, if you want to do low-poly stuff for games you're stuffed, its got terrible subdivision support for polygon control hulls and its got a really ropey interface. If you love nurbs, use maya.
Its just like lightwave except WORSE (if possible)

The only bad thing Lightwave has going for it, is the speed of its renderer...
Slow. As. Hell.
But it looks great when it finishes..
-
But all lightwaves' renderings look the SAME!
The mark of a good renderer is the facility to get a different look out of it.
Thats' why 3dsMAXs default renderer sucked so much...everything looked very samey or if you really worked on an image it would take on a slightly illistrutative look.
Lightwaves' renders have a tendancy to look fairly realistic but they always have an incredibly CG tinge to them.
Of course the above is a sweeping generalisation.
I just stick wit mental ray and max/XSI. can't beat em.
-
I gotta try one of these other renderers one of these days...
-
I just love this kind of question. Let's see now
Mission Impossible 2 ( Well Mr Hunt, this is not mission difficult, it's mission impossible. Mission difficult would be a walk in the park for you. :) )
Whoa! Have you guys checked the bike action? Tom Cruise couldn't have possibly done all those moves. Anyway, it is a good action movie and I would recommend it to everyone.
THIS MESSAGE WILL SELF-DESTRUCT IN FIVE SECONDS
-
Oh god that movie was terrible.....
Hated it...
-
All that stuff about the masks was damn silly... :p
-
Well the masks were too overboard but in general, it was good.
-
err... I dunno I like so many movies I've seen :doubt:
but let's say Mononoke Hime :D
or Fifth Element
or Lion King
or ... :nervous:
