Title: Custom jump animation
Post by: Colonol Dekker on July 21, 2009, 03:46:16 am
I've checked the wiki but I don't follow. . .do they need to be hard coded?

What i'd "like" to emulate/achieve would be similar to that huge ship from thundercats the movie. The one Tigra and Cheetara set on maximum speed with the crew tied up.

Maximum speed??!! We'll be in deep space in seconds!!!

Any tips or how-to's from someone?

How about also going to ludicrous speed?    :D

Animated Tartan replacement to the subspace skybox would work.

:bump: anyone care to elaborate on the original question?

The warp 'hole' itself is a POF with a few textures, so you can replace/retexture that relatively easily.

Altering how the ships move through it is another matter entirely though.

Texture map replacement and editing the pof is absolute childs play. . I'm interested in higher control. Hence the topic title.

Sorry, misunderstood the question!

Do you have a YouTube or whatever link?

I (and probably many others) never saw the Thundercats movie, so I'm not sure what you're after.

Oh, like the BSG/TAP jump effects?

What about the Star Wars/Trek effect--a stretched ship? I'm curious as to whether or not it can be done with image filters or effects, to make the ship seem to expand a long distance (say 100 meters per ship meter) and warp out sort of in pieces. Similar thing with jumping back in--have it stretching from a long distance and then having the back catch up to the front at the jump-out spot.

I can't view this at the moment due to 3G restrictions, but this might be it...
