Think Sentai...with bug armor and themed villains for the most part.  Was ported by Saban as Masked Rider some years ago, one of them anyway.

Please don't talk about any of Saban's shameless rip-offs. They practically ruined Kamen Rider outside of Japan. THey churn out a new power rangers (each one worse than the previous) for every new Super Sentai and dont get me started on what they did with Metalder, Spielban and Shaider...

I think the current PR is pretty good actually.  It's definately the darkest.

I grew up with Kamen Rider Black. Although it had some fruity ideas in some of its episodes (see below), most of it was prety good. It's story was more or less "dark" (relatively speaking) and serious and there were times when I was freaked out as a kid.

About those fruity ideas, there was one with killer necklaces, one where they stole dreams from people and there was this one episode where there was this powerful monster...

so the bad guys conspire to make it more powerful...
by feeding it omega-3 fatty acids...
which come from fish...
so they take like all of the fish in Japan and feed it into this mammoth monster.

...yup.
