Title: New Interface art
Post by: The E on August 01, 2009, 02:01:40 am
Here's a set of new Interface art (the traditional kind, not the scripted variant), created using Flaming_Swords interface templates app. Download (http://www.mediafire.com/?ojyei1zg05h) and discuss. If you have a good logo or images that would work as backgrounds, feel free to give them to me.

Samples:

EDIT: Updated for more awesomeness.

All I see is a recoloring, a background, and a transparent watermark.

1920x1080 native resolution art assets where?

Not possible using the standard FS2 UI system. I'm working on replacing it as a whole, but that takes some coding.

Blue interface is blue.

And for the record, I have never liked using screenshots for interface backgrounds.

There are several other pics on the DVD that were not used for the interface.

Im Free for the next month if you need any interface art.  Although I would suggest a More B5 style interface rather than the freespace style. :)

Well.....Creating an entire interface from scratch is incredibly painful work. the FS interface uses something on the order of ~2000 little files, some of which are incredibly alike. Flaming_Sword made a little program to ease that creation process a little; however, to change the style completely, one still has to create all those files. If you open up the TBP core vp and look at the data/interface directory, that's pretty much your workload.

What's the current status of this?  Anything that can be included on the DVD?

Just checked the new art, looks awesome and definately solves the problem about reading the debriefings. I'd suggest make this thread a sticky.

Hello

I want to give this fine Art a try and copied the files into Data/interface
Now all will be fine.. but if i try to start the Mission the game hangs.

I run the 3.6.14 Debug Build then to create a fs2_open.log

Code: [Select]
=================== STARTING LEVEL LOAD ==================
BMPMAN: Found EFF (2_Loading.eff) with 14 frames at 15 fps.
tga: Couldn't open '2_Loading_0000'
WARNING: "EFF: No frame images were found.  EFF, 2_Loading.eff, is invalid." at bmpman.cpp:960
Int3(): From c:\code\fs2_open_3_6_14_rc6\code\globalincs\windebug.cpp at line 1266

Can everybody help ??

Well, isn't this a blast from the past?

As much as I can see from here there is file missing needed for the loading bar....
Easiest thing to do would be to relocate all files beginning with "2_loading" (should be 1 .eff and 14 .dds) to somewhere safe outside /data/interface...
then try again - old interface should replace the broken part (will look silly but should work)
