Wat? (http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2009/08/britain-to-put-cctv-cameras-inside-private-homes/)
Is this for real?
-
Not yet. :D
-
I think that if that is real, it's wrong. But, judging by the misspelled words and unproven assertions, that is just some excessively paranoid individual blowing off steam.

Two words: Wire cutters

It's from the Dail Express. I won't believe it until I see it from a newspaper that is more trustworthy.
-
No word on any reputable news source that I can find.

That's good to know. I'd think that with something like this, reputable news sources would've said something about it sooner. Now that I know that the Daily Express isn't exactly a good source, I guess it's better to assume that it's untrue. :) Silly me, not know which news sources are and aren't reliable...
-
Yeah, fourthing "paranoid bull****" theory. Daily Express is simply not a trustworthy source. It's like Weekly World News, just a little toned down.

The fact that they're even on the streets is enough evidence to me to prove that America owns Britain on real, actual civil liberties, despite all shouting and name-calling to the contrary.
-
Tell that to people who got wiretapped or sent to gitmo. :p

Weren't there cameras in Chicago and LA for a while, or am I just crazy?

We've known you to be three fries short of a happy meal for quite some time now, but you're right anyway. (http://24ahead.com/blog/archives/004684.html)

Cameras to monitor children in their homes? If NAMBLA was a government agency they would be all over that :P
Seriously though, they are totally screwing the pooch if they do it this way. You need to start small and work your way up. Get the populace pissed off and afraid of a certain group then test it out. Like monitoring sex offenders, nobody but the ACLU twits will whinge about that. Once you've broken the ice with them then you start adding more and more deviants until you got the whole populace under camera. One does not simply start off trying to monitor children :P Somebody send these fools 1984, they need an instruction manual!

I'd prefer a ceiling cat myself. :nervous:
