Title: switching/upgrading the game engine

i know that this question has been asked before, but i wanna hear it from the horse's mouth

is there any way that i can switch the old FS2 engine for the new one?

Um, you want to use FreeSpace Open...?

Yes, you can use FreeSpace Open. Just download 3.6.10 final and Launcher 5.5e, select the 3.6.10 final exe, and run it.

You'll need the MediaVPs for graphical enhancement.

That's the download link.

Get the exe, get the Launcher, unzip it all into your FS directory, Start the Launcher and select the fs2_open executable. Then adjust all the options as required, select the mediavps as a mod, hit Start and enjoy the awesomeness.
