I just saw that my Asteria model is missing a texture: Tran2A-shine. Someone out there who has that one, or do I have to replace it by another one?
-
That's a shine map for Tran2A. I don't know why the model is calling a shine map directly...
-
if you just rename it "Tran2" and you are all set - that is the same texture and its in mediavps...
ps. I've remade textures, fighterbay and docking points of Asteria for SoI... pm me if you want them...

Asteria? Where does one find this beast? I missed it for the wiki list

Asteria? Where does one find this beast? I missed it for the wiki list
there is currently no dl...
it was uploaded to hades-combine but you know the stroy....
I have it in SoI now (see here (http://www.freespacemods.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=513&t=168)) and as far as I can see INFA has an up-sized version (they made it Acadia-sized as far as I understood these comments)
I can write an wiki article if you like...

Well if there's no download yet don't add it. Once you get your mod out the door we can add it then. The wiki list isn't supposed to list ships for which there is not a download (though I broke that rule myself for about 6 months with the GVF Anouke) hahaha

Yet there had been no serious demand... I am willing to share it (it had been publicly avalible before and there is no need to hold it in a box just because I cannot finish my campaign :()

Don't blame me.... I'm not the one slowing me down
ps. I've already started the article :sigh: - no need to drop it now

Hey I'm just saying the Wiki's for downloadable mods only (or so it said before I got there). Whether anyone ever looks at the thing or downloads ships based on what they see there I don't know.
If you want to upload it separately to FSMods you can do that, or you can simply feature it in your campaign whenever you're able to release it. Either way is fine. Other mods have been "made" for pretty much a decade but haven't ever seen the light of day either so that station has lots of company. Then again Trashman's made a lot of stations so when the Asteria is available it will have lots of company too. Either way it won't be lonely.
-
I have the Asteria, but for some reason it keeps crashing for me so the model I have might be bugged. I could upload it but...it's probably bugged.

I will upload it... I somehow feel guilty about keeping it back
it might still spawn an error or two but it is working

Old release thread here:

Download link still seems to be alive.

so here is new almost-flashy wiki-page.. .http://www.hard-light.net/wiki/index.php/GTI_Asteria
with FSmods dl-link

Decent looking station.
I added it to the main page and edited it a bit for spelling and grammar.
Btw. As an aside, after copying and pasting a hundred or so tech descriptions there's one thing I don't get.
It takes someone hours to make a proper model from start to finish, building the mesh, texturing, pofing etcetera.
It takes 5 minutes to write a tech description. And 1-2 minutes to proofread that description.
Yet many mods had no description or barely more than a single line. Or others were rampant with errors. I know some people aren't english first language but other people are so it's a bit weird.
The GTI Asteria was okay. A few odd things and spelling errors most of which I hope I fixed but I didn't get too deep into it.
-
Well, I can think of a reason why - every campaign has it's own premise, and usually, it's the campaign writers that write tech descriptions to suit there needs. Since people figure it's going to get rewritten anyway, they just provide a very basic description for people to work off of, or perhaps even none at all.

Yes, that did work. Thanks.
Oh, and you have a pm. ;)
